I have been looking into a permanent solar backup system using rack mount batteries in the basement and roof mounted panels. After researching the costs involved, building and electrical permits, tax increases, and insurance issues I have now changed my mind. New plan is to start with an old equipment trailer I have and make a portable power source that is Mobil and has zero extra expenses. By not ground or roof mounting anything and just plugging into my generator input on the house no taxes, regulations, or building permits. Plan now is a heavily insulated power room built on the trailer with batteries and inverter with fold out solar panel racks. Also my 15 kw gas generator for fast recharges when there isn't enough sun will be mounted on it. Will have enough output to charge an ev when not needed. Hopefully next spring I will have things together and start. With a 15 year lifespan at 80% discharge the batteries should out live me.
That is a good idea. I like it a lot. I like the idea of my Honda EU7000I safe in a trailer ready to use. Then having panels and battery bank integrated into the system is a big plus.

Do you plan on going total free of utility power? This would be even less complicated from a legal/gov perspective.

I have often wondered how those folks with panels on the roof will replace the roof in 20 years. Well, I know how they will do it, but the cost will be excessive.

No, just as a backup and EV charging source. We don't get enough sun in the winter. I just want to play and have a source so an EV can be charged far away from the house. Our power went out for a period again today and lately it happens about every 5 days but luckily not for more then a couple hours. Something is wrong with our grid because it never used to go out except for things like major accidents that take down poles. I have a 15 kw 30 hp generator I have to drag out now but that burns about .8 gallons an hour with a small load and only 1 gallon a hour full load so it should only take at max with no sun 1 gallon a day for a recharge that will carry me a day. Hopefully solar should do it totally with sun.
Those panels are only good for 15 to 20 years so everything will need replacing anyway.

I believe the EV technology has been rushed to market. If you go back and research history, you'll find countless similar examples of this. For instance X-Rays...

I read up on the enormous number of researchers and doctors who literally killed themselves playing/experimenting with X-Ray technology while perfecting it. So many died of cancer and knew that it was killing them each time they exposed themselves for the next test.

Please know that CT Scans, X-Rays, MRI's, and simple RF energy exposure ( Cell Phones, etc, ) is cumulative. If you want a long healthy life limit your exposure to these technologies.

EV tech will march forward (as does all tech), and a suitable solution will eventually be found, but not in the near term.
very true! we often forget that EV is nothing new it was tried way back and dumped. then later and dumped again lol.

EVs predate ICE autos by 50 years! But died out in the 1920's due to starters added to ICE engines. What goes are around comes around...

My grandfather was a bread delivery man in Chicago at that time and they had a fleet of electric trucks.

ICE Engine fires can be easily extinguished. Once that EV battery ignites, run for you life, and pray to God that the EV isn't near anything combustible, or a person you love.

Statistics can be made to say anything. Corporates and Governments lie all the time using statistics.

You really only think inflation is running at 4%?

Based upon 1980 inflation calculations it is currently at 12%, based upon calculations changed in 1990 it is at 8%. And based upon present calculations it is at 4%.

ShadowStats has been doing this type of HONEST statistical Inflation analysis for a very long time.

Alternate Inflation Charts
The CPI chart on the home page reflects our estimate of inflation for today as if it were calculated the same way it was in 1990. The CPI on the Alternate Data Series tab here reflects the CPI as if it were calculated using the methodologies in place in 1980. In general terms, methodological shifts in government reporting have depressed reported inflation, moving the concept of the CPI away from being a measure of the cost of living needed to maintain a constant standard of living.
Further definition is provided in our CPI Glossary. Further background on the SGS-Alternate CPI series is available in our Public Comment on Inflation Measurement.

Which number do you think is accurate? What does your grocery bill say? How about the incredible Ford Parts increases in the last 3 years?

Incidents / 100K matter, but don't tell the entire story. I'll wager you that each EV incident is catastrophic. You don't hear of transport ships sinking due to ICE auto fires. Or housing burning down with new ICE autos in the garage.

Latest stats on Vaxx deaths, Mortality is up 45% for those aged birth - 24 years old. That is staggering, but is not being reported. The data is derived from the Government's NIH/CDC VAERS Database, and this is only after the data has been scrubbed ( just like the inflation data above) to reflect what they want you to know.

I trust my own senses over what anyone tells me. I lost a mother, a sister, 4 friends, and a grandchild in the last 18 months. All healthy. All died suddenly from crazy one off diseases. They are dead and gone. I can count. Death certificates don't tell the story. They were not counted.

I am not trying to open a can of worms on the topics of inflation or vaccines. I am only making a point about how statistics are (mis)used. After all, the "science is settled", and "statistics don't lie".

Just keep repeating it. That's what governments do.

Stats are just numbers and figures determined by different groups or studies and can be shaped and bent to their specific needs.
If something bad happens to one person out of 100 than it's only 1%.
If you are that person, than it's 100%, even tho it's only 1% of the total.
Same number, but different perspective.

LOL... If anyone has any evidence of EV fires being an epidemic, I'm all for learning. I'm really not interested in opinions on this, just hard facts. About the only place where there are more EV fires than ICE is on the news, because it sells. :)

It's a proven fact that methane produced by cow farts are one of the worst contributors to green house gas's.
Since methane is highly combustible, I propose the gov't find a way to capture cow farts, condense the farts, under pressure, and have the vehicle manufacturers start producing vehicles that run on cow farts....
Then we could all start posting about how many mpcf (miles per cow fart) we get !!!
You could even grade it....
Calf Farts=Regular
Cow Farts=Mid Grade
Bull Farts=High Test
Well I have to call this post inaccurate as I learned today reading the Denver Post regards a bill introduced by Colorado Sen Michael Bennet to fund the study of cattle emissions, excerpt from the article, cattle emit methane thru burps and not farts. Your tax $$ at work. Sorry for the poor insert - it's tough to copy and paste from the newspaper

And that pipeline which the "west" blew up released enough methane in a single day to wipe out all the gains made over the last 35 years by the CO2 restrictions for the entire western societies of the world!

I learned a long time ago, people (and governments) give good reasons for their actions, and seldom if ever give the real reasons. Usually because they are too unpalatable.

Deeds speak far louder than words. They have proven by their deeds that they are not serious about global warning.

And they have also proven that they are quite serious about global control.

"Global Warning" is simply another "control" tool.

Go look at who is purchasing (presently at 40+% and climbing each year) all the private homes in the USA. By this rate by 2035 60% of all private property will be unpurchasable by the individual US citizen. The US Government is bypassing the constitution by controlling large corporations which do the bidding that the US government cannot. And they are doing this on multiple fronts.

"You will own nothing and you will be happy."

Keep repeating that mantra...

Some believe , inc myself that the US is on the road to or has become a plutocracy. This was greatly aided by court decisions that struck down limits on political funding. Lobbyists spend billions each year to good effect and attempts to bar elected officials from becoming lobbyists or engaging in insider trading have gone nowhere.
