My 2021 Ranger got its rear lights nabbed and its tailgate broken into.
1. Collusion centers/ body shops don't want to do this work as it is just small-time and worried insurance won't pay their rates billed after the job is done above the job estimate.
2. Ford parts are notoriously on back order and can take up to 3 months for BLIS lights to be in stock and insurance companies usually only pay rental cars for a max of 30 days.
3. My local Ford dealers have a 3-week waiting list just for an appointment and then your truck sits in a queue that they work on when they get around to it/have the parts.
4. I am trying to get my insurance to let me work with an independent shop, not on their preferred list that has insurance job experience to bang out this job and be "made whole" as per my policy.
Here is a list for those wanting to do it yourself to source those parts or to show your insurance how much the cost of the parts is besides labor, taxes, etc:
BLIS Rear Lights (sometimes on 90-day backorder)
https://www.oemfordpart.com/oem-par...ZSZir3sE_g-4zumYTAM9sPjQL85gItV6tEHnvvIIUFkO8
$1,030 EACH + tax
The collision center I talked to said they put non-BLIS lights on a truck until the BLIS ones were available and then switched them out, not sure if Insurance will pay for two pairs.
Tailgate Color-Matched (ships from Houston, Texas in 20 days or less)
https://www.revemoto.com/products/2...yhBkere2AvHhw4Cki5-PCw&variant=40587944788050
$1,900 + tax
Tailgate Body In White (unpainted)
https://www.paintedoemparts.com/product-page/painted-2019-2023-ford-ranger-genuine-oem-tailgate
Tailgate handle (shares part # AB3Z2143400AC with Ford Maverick 22-24) not including the lock
https://parts.lakelandford.com/p/Fo...1055670/AB3Z2143400AC.html?partner=googlebase
$40 + tax
Labor
$70-100/hr for R&R of usable parts (rear camera) and screws from the old tailgate.
BLISS coding
Price Unknown. This has to be done at a Ford dealer or a mobile locksmith who has the Ford software to do that, bodyshops won't have that.
If anyone who has already gone through this painful process has anything to add I will update this list. Stay Safe!
