My 2021 Ranger got its rear lights nabbed and its tailgate broken into.

1. Collusion centers/ body shops don't want to do this work as it is just small-time and worried insurance won't pay their rates billed after the job is done above the job estimate.
2. Ford parts are notoriously on back order and can take up to 3 months for BLIS lights to be in stock and insurance companies usually only pay rental cars for a max of 30 days.
3. My local Ford dealers have a 3-week waiting list just for an appointment and then your truck sits in a queue that they work on when they get around to it/have the parts.
4. I am trying to get my insurance to let me work with an independent shop, not on their preferred list that has insurance job experience to bang out this job and be "made whole" as per my policy.

Here is a list for those wanting to do it yourself to source those parts or to show your insurance how much the cost of the parts is besides labor, taxes, etc:

BLIS Rear Lights (sometimes on 90-day backorder)
https://www.oemfordpart.com/oem-par...ZSZir3sE_g-4zumYTAM9sPjQL85gItV6tEHnvvIIUFkO8
$1,030 EACH + tax
The collision center I talked to said they put non-BLIS lights on a truck until the BLIS ones were available and then switched them out, not sure if Insurance will pay for two pairs.

Tailgate Color-Matched (ships from Houston, Texas in 20 days or less)
https://www.revemoto.com/products/2...yhBkere2AvHhw4Cki5-PCw&variant=40587944788050
$1,900 + tax

Tailgate Body In White
(unpainted)
https://www.paintedoemparts.com/product-page/painted-2019-2023-ford-ranger-genuine-oem-tailgate

Tailgate handle (shares part # AB3Z2143400AC with Ford Maverick 22-24) not including the lock
https://parts.lakelandford.com/p/Fo...1055670/AB3Z2143400AC.html?partner=googlebase
$40 + tax

Labor
$70-100/hr
for R&R of usable parts (rear camera) and screws from the old tailgate.

BLISS coding
Price Unknown.
This has to be done at a Ford dealer or a mobile locksmith who has the Ford software to do that, bodyshops won't have that.

If anyone who has already gone through this painful process has anything to add I will update this list. Stay Safe!

You will need the bliss modules also I believe...

Tailgate looks repairable imo , plus they could reinforce it from the inside while they are in there...
The tailgate is thin aluminum I think, not sure it can be welded cleanly. The Light part comes with the module in the link I posted I think but might just be part #1?

Your are supposed to use your old module with a new taillight and no programming needed , but if stolen , you'll need new modules plus programming to match it to your truck... I busted mine and it came without any module , 1300 bucks...

Justin I'm gutted for you brother. As a fellow photog please tell me you didn't have your cases back there....

One of my peers here in Vegas just had his windows smashed out because the scum saw Pelican and figured only good stuff come in those boxes. POS was right...

It's sad just how low and without remorse people that would do this are , we are Ranger owners , proud and happy but not generally in a financial position to deal with this level of time consuming thievery, also on Ford somewhat imo for being that outrageously overpriced... I hate this for you and hope Kharma can get the sleezebags involved...

No, just a gas can and muddy shoes, thankfully I had taken my camera bag and tripod out a few days earlier. I do not keep anything inside and have stickers on the window saying it is alarmed. If I could afford Pelican cases I might have been lulled into false security. Sorry for your buds' loss, hope his gear was insured.

This is just frustrating. How can anyone think they are entitled to someone else's property while that person is out trying to make an honest living? As a born & raised Texan, I'd have hoped for better from Texas. Where in Texas are ya by the way?

Based in San Antonio.

I think there are just memos to robbers of what the after/black-market wants. First, it was Cats from Kia/Hyundai, and now all super-duty Fords, complete or parts, and Ranger rear lights with the BLIS.

The tow truck driver said he's gotten several calls for pick-ups of Rangers without tail lights recently and he is just one driver in town.

My neighbor got this on their security camera. Fancy BMW on a Monday night with face masks?!?! It must be a local gang.

As far as the coding- I believe you can do this with Forscan, LIN Module (New) initialization, I know that this is trivial to the cost , but if you were to replace yourself EBay or Salvaged Yard) this is an option. As all that needs done is read the internal data (s/n) of modules and link that s/n to the trucks VIN #

I would love to know - Where the thieves sell them?

The irony is: stolen goods go for a fraction of their actual value.

Cartels were paying $7k for each Ford Raptor that was stolen by local crews here. I don't think you can get a stripped one new for under 65-70k

If it's a loaded model ?

So your insurance pays out the 85 grand on your note, or pays you back if you paid cash, and the people behind it all pick it up for a tenth of the price. Laughable.

So do the math, if the new kits are $1500 they're probably being sold for all of $150 bucks ? while your rates jump up for like the next five years

damn that is a shame! sorry to see.
some people really are just a holes. dont know what part of texas your in but ass cheeks full of bird shot will prevent them from stealing again.. keep an eye on craigslist and facebook market place. in dfw area a wrecked 5g shows up about once a week and the parts still good are easy to get with a cash in hand offer.
