So today was a interesting day on the water. Almost was my last day on earth. So we stopped to go to a place called Hidden Beach. I get off and snorkeled to the beach no biggie. Which was a short run like 500 meters. So when I left I decided I would go around the island instead the short run which was about 1.5 kms. Again no biggie I can go a ways with fins. But going around the island into a channel, we'll not smart move. As the current around the island in the channel was shall we say STRONG. Well I made it around and had my boat in sight 1000 meters. Only problem I had zero left in me. I started sinking as I couldn't get enough air to float or breath. There was no way I was making to my boat. Luckily there was another boat about 300 meters. I started screaming for help, I was going down. A filipino guy jumped in a life vest and got to me as I was just about done for. So now I was able to float. He pulled towards my boat, then my crew came in a brought me the rest of the way back. By the time I recovered that boat left. So sadly I didn't get the opportunity to properly thank him. So that was my day.
Richard, so glad you're safe. That's an amazing story and glad they got you to safety!

Glad you're ok, That must of been scary to say the least! I've heard of people getting caught in these rip currents and they're no joke. Great pictures and enjoy the rest of your vacation.....From shore! ?

Glad to hear that you made it out ok.

I was on a plane home once after doing a tour down in Africa. At one point, I got a shiver up my spine; I've been flying since I was a toddler, never had that happen before or since. A couple of days later, my dad tells me that a friend of mine who worked for his company had died in a scuba accident while on vacation. As near as I can tell, I was flying right over him when he died and I got that shiver. Make of it what you will.....

I totally believe in premonitions. When I was in my mid 20's I woke up one night at 3:00 am out of a dead sleep for no reason. I don't know why but I had a strange feeling running through me and I just knew something wasn't right. I couldn't get back to sleep and 2 hours later at 5:00am a friend called me to tell me our best friend had died in a car accident a couple hours ago. He was home on leave for the Christmas holidays and I was out with him the night before with his older brother. Besides the other person in the car with his (who walked away uninjured) we were the last to see and spend time with him. :(

That was the first time I've ever lost someone close but it was very strange how I was awakened at almost the exact time of his death. Since then my grandparents have all passed and other friends and I've never encountered this again but for some reason I did that night. Like your encounter it was very eery.

So at our new destination it has rained nonstop for 3 days. The thunder storms gave been unreal. Last night it literally shook our bungalow. Loudest I have ever heard in my life. We went on a boat tour on Wednesday and it was blowing, rough seas and rain. The trip was prepaid so... I spent yesterday recovering in the room as it was the coldest I have been since coming to the Philippines. Being out on the ocean cold, wet and wind sucked. So we're planning on coming back here later when the weather is better.

Well even a bad weather day on vacation beats working any day! But being wet and cold stinks as it gets into your bones and it's hard to do anything. Jump in the hot tub if there's one there. lol We're leaving tomorrow and the weather next week shows rain in the forecast every day but Sunday.

I've lived in the middle of the country my entire life. I've visited the California and Florida coasts before but I've never been anywhere remotely "tropical" before.

Looking at your pictures has me really looking forward to our Hawaii trip this fall. If Kauai is half as beautiful as Palawan, they'll have a hard time getting me back on the plane!
