I have a 2020 XLT (White) and noticed that right above where the gas cap door is it looks like a small vertical crease in the body panel or paint. You have to look at it down the side of the truck in certain light to see it...reflections look distorted in this particular area. I can see it while driving if I look through my side mirror too...but I'm drawn to it now that I've seen it.

When I run my hand over the area it's smooth as glass and doesn't feel indented at all. I've read that this is caused by how the panels are painted and assembled at the factory. I have also seen this phenomenon occasionally on other vehicles too. Anyone else seen this or can elaborate on what causes this?

That is exactly how mine is. You don't notice it when looking directly from the side, but when looking down the side...like through the side mirror...you can really see it. It's smooth to the touch...no indention at all.

I have noticed so many cosmetic issues like this since I bought the truck 3 months ago. Discoloration on interior door panel, scratched glass, scuffed tail lights, etc. Every time I look at the truck closely it seems I notice something else that isn't quite right. Very disappointing. Seems like very poor quality control at the factory.

The discolored place I was speaking of is next to the driver's side door handle. It is a lighter color...almost gray. Looks like where a sticker was peeled off, but it definitely will not improve with any cleaning. There is a whole thread on here talking about it with pictures. Several say that they got the dealer to order a replacement door panel, but the replacement was actually worse.

I must agree that it is apparent that quality control at the Michigan plant is not a priority. Blemishes in the leather, front and rear doors not aligned correctly with each other or with the front and back fenders amongst other things I have noticed. I gave up my Tremor for eight days (third party body shop via dealer) to get two alignment issues corrected and it is still not straight. I sure wish I had taken the time to inspect the vehicle properly before taking possession but I was just too excited to receive it. One would expect quality not to be an issue when spending this much on a new vehicle. With the added warranty and a few accessories I had ordered with it I know I have a tad over 55K invested. Worth it? Not THAT much for what I received. Having owned a 500hp Jaguar (for less) in my recent past I should have purchased another one.

my hood has the same lil glitch on the drivers side. typical of the covid fords i guess. but i really dont notice it. with all the time its spent at dealers for transmission problems, bcm problems, alignment shops, and body shop I dont really get to look at it much.

Interestingly enough my job just got a ford ranger fresh from factory with the same indents on both sides of the hood. My personal auto only has it on one side. To be honest on both sides the indents look like they are supposed to be there and I probably would have never noticed, but being on one side its a little annoying
