Looking online at specs, I see bed capacity of 1560. Looking at the door sticker, I see crew and cargo capacity of 1406.

I was looking at a bed camper that weights 1150-1300, depending on which source I believe. Add propane and a battery, and that's another 80 lbs.

I was thinking that would be ok until I saw the door sticker. What is the actual capacity of this truck?

What fits?

I did upgrade to LT tires, but I doubt that's the issue here.

Go by what your door sticker list. It will be correct for how your truck was configured at the factory.

Be careful. That door sticker doesn't include a full tank of gas either. Passengers, food, clothing, and everything else adds up quickly!

Geez, so the camper can be like 800 lbs. Can't believe there is much available under 1k lbs.

The wife is sorta set on the bed camper. Had I known that, I would've gotten a full size.

Are you referring to the slide-in campers that you can stand up and sleep in, usually with a door on the rear.

Or are you talking about a bed shell/camper/topper etc just to cover the bed about the same height at the cab?

There aren't really any good options for those that work with the Ranger. If you wanted it for camping, then maybe consider a tent.

yup. just using it as example of how easy it is to overload your truck with a slide in camper.

there are precious few options that will work for a midsize truck, and they tend to be pretty spartan.

Ranger is a solid little puller so I’d suggest getting a trailer based setup.

This reminds me of the person's who say they towed >7500 lbs cross country and the truck did just fine... Just because they can, doesn't mean they should...

On topic - I've become more and more 9f a fan of the popup tent topper things I've been seeing around... Can use the topper as a topper when it's closed, than open it up and there is a bed up top... It might not have all the comforts the better half is looking for, but it's something....

Check out YouTube. I have seen some videos of them on there. I am pretty sure they are from Australia or Europe, but you may be able to find a US distributor of them.
