That oven does look dangerous. See how big and blocky the feet are? And look at the width! Only criminals would use an oven like that!
Plus it has a capacity of 10 chickens ??????????.

Intensive chicken farming is cruel, doesn't make rich industrialists even richer, because you can't patent chickens, and generates global warming gases.
You must use synthetic chickens which will taste like S**t, contain addictive drugs to make you want to keep buying them, require a license fee, and probably cause cancer in the state of California.

I thought everything caused cancer in the state of California?

Maybe it just seems like it because all the warning labels say so....

Yes I've been to California several times and wondered how people can live there, the place just seems so dangerous! Luckily we jumped across the border to Nevada where is is presumably safe to eat our hot dog containing nitrates.

Well my tongue was firmly planted in my cheek when I typed this, but sometimes I do wonder about the future. Stuff that was unthinkable just 30 years ago is common place now.

I'm reminded about Soylent Green and when I first saw it as a teenager and thought - well that could never happen....

Well I thought I should bring the thread back on topic. This fireplace WILL be lit sometime this year probably initially early June through to August.

This is a fairly new steel one. It's predecessor, a cast iron one finally gave up the ghost after 27 years of my wife treating it as a compact domestic model blast furnace.

When it reached the point that it was more cracks and furnace cement than firebox I judged it probably not safe to leave unwatched anymore. It was made in New Zealand and I think designed for use with softwood, we use mostly gum and wattle which burn much hotter. Still it did serve us well.

Hi Cam,

Well....We go to Costco, buy eggs and then stop and buy a rotisserie chicken. I always wonder if the eggs were from the rotisserie chicken we bought.... :)

A bit of a back story, It was 30 minutes until Beer:30 cocktails on the patio and I forgot I had no Pacifico beer. So hop in the Ranger and down to local Safeway, one 12 pack of Pacifico secured and jump into the 10 items or less line (no self checkout at this old peoples store). The line was some 20 people long and we inched along but going relative quickly. Every one before me and after me had a rotisserie chicken. Tonight's dinner I guess. Anyway got up to the cashier and place the 12 Pack on the belt. Her question to me was "Where is your chicken?" Sheesh! Do not go to Safeway at quitting time... And keep the outdoor fridge stocked with beer.... Sigh!

Best,
Phil

I wonder what they count my Harbor freight flame thrower as? That sucker can roast a marshmallow at 8 feet.
