Anyone have Auxito bulbs?

Have you ran LED's in any vehicle in the stock halogen housing?

The stock bulbs were literally a hazard for me to use as I could barely see, so I knew this would be one of the first things I'd do. After finding a video on youtube of a guy with a ranger running the same bulbs, I went for it.

So besides the cargo lights, and fog lights I recently got Auxito LED's all around.
• H11 Low Beam(with halogen headlights)
• 9005 High Beam(with halogen headlights)
• 7443 Front Turn Signal Light

For me these let me see so much better and are just what I wanted.
I am constantly getting people flashing me their brights, turning their lights on and off when driving in front of me etc.
Not sure if it's the beam angle, but when installing there is really only two orientations you can put them in and no they aren't upside down. I've obviously heard of people dogging on others who change stock halogens to LED's and more specifically H11's but I really didn't find these too over the top. I see a lot of people with similar type setups on different cars, trucks, etc. Not once, have they been an issue for me while I was driving but yes they are brighter than the typical LED sequential. I went this route because while I have the money for completely different headlights, I don't have the time to take apart my entire front end just to change them.

I was wondering if anyone has done this as well and experienced similar results. I'll include some pictures. Also if it is coming down to the beam angle how do you get it to line up better without them just dangling in the housing as it feels like there are only two orientations, upside down and similar to the old halogen beam pattern which I tried to match. I still have my stock bulbs, which I can reinstall but do not wish to, at anytime.

Can you adjust your headlights to point more downward?
I had the same problem in a past truck and that’s how I resolved it.

I guess I could try, it just doesn't feel like they'd be secure if put in any position than the other two that it fit snug.

The bulbs only fit correctly in the housing ONE way. Not sure which Auxitos you have. If they are the 16000 lumen version those are way tpo powrrful for the low beams and over power the reflector. Are they rotatable in the mounting? If so they need to be adjusted so when installed the LED chips face outward in the three and nine position.

Yes, you need to use the method in the video to adjust the low beam setting so the cutoff is at the proper hight.

A lot of arguments both ways on this forum, that drop-in LED bulbs should not be used in halogen reflector housings. Technically they are not DOT approved for on street use and therefore illegal. Contrary to many peoples opinion they cannot match the light pattern of a halogen bulb in a reflector designed for halogen bulbs.

Do everyone a favor and get LED headlights designed as LED headlights.

I second that. If the led blade isnt perfectly vertical it will be a crapshoot. I bought some and dropped them in my fogs because they were terrible. I bought the adjustable ones and aimed my lights down a touch. Zero flashing from my fellow motorists. Also I have the 12000 lumem ones. Might be a touch extreme but they work. The high beams on the other hand are like looking at the sun. Dont need off-road lights now.

I have them. Even before I swapped teh bulbs, people were flashing their lights. Whoever put the leveling kit on my truck, never aimed the lights and, they would shine directly into oncoming traffics eyeballs.

I do still get the occasional person flashing their lights at me but, I just flash back and go about my business.

From the video you linked in your post I’m going to assume that you went with the 16,000 lumen Auxito. Those are waaaaaaaaaaaay too bright for the low beam on our trucks. I know this because I used to have them in my Ranger and regardless of how much I adjusted them down I would constantly get flashed. No, my truck has not been leveled. I even had one person try to run me off of the road. He was in the unfortunate position of being in front of me, and I noticed that he adjusted his rear view mirror then he placed his hand over the side mirror on his door. The next thing I know the guy locks up his brakes and and pulls over on the shoulder. As I was going past him he guns it in behind me, nearly sideswiping my sons following me in their own vehicle. So I pull off the road in an attempt to let the guy just go on…nope, he passes me and pulls off the road and waits. Again, same thing as above, I pass and he gets in behind me high beaming me the whole time. Now, we’re on a simple two lane road this whole time and thankfully my turn off is coming up and the road widens enough for there to be a center turn lane. As we approached where I have to turn he guns it over onto the shoulder and proceeds to cut over into my passenger’s side just as I’m getting in the turning lane and decelerating. He missed hitting me by mere inches. If I didn’t need to turn and slow down to do so, that stupid bastard would have hit me and possibly injured my wife who was riding with me. I decided right then and there to remove the 16,000 lumen Auxitos from my low beams. So I did when I got home. And honestly you should remove them too. They are just way too bright for the reflector housing. I honestly recommend either trying out a higher end halogen bulb, (like the Sylvania ZXE Gold, the silverstar ultras, and the PIAA xTreme white) or installing a led housing like the OEM Lariat lights or an aftermarket set like the Morimoto’s or the Alpharex Luxx/Nova series. I personally went with the PIAA’s and like them well enough. They get the job done. For the sake of the other drivers on the road take those Auxitos out of your low beams.

I'm ashamed to admit.. I have them. I know, its bad. But I need more light output without spending $800-2000 for a housing solution. I got flashed a few times so I went and adjusted them down one night before a road trip. Looks like I went WAY too far down and the early morning trip was extremely dangerous as I could NOT see the road in front of me. I have since adjusted the housings back up and but its a constant adjustment up and down and I cannot seem to find the sweet spot. I'm considering just putting the stock halogens back in. It's really frustrating that my $40k truck has halogen headlight housings.

your last line says it all, hopefully people will take it to heart and be concerned about the impact of others on the road - not just themselves.

I have these:
https://a.co/4vMBYJN

The beam and cutoff is exactly the same as my stock ones just way more output. 16k would be too much for sure, not sure if we have confirmed if yours are 12k or 16k. I have been flashed by people maybe 1-2 times and its only because I was going down a hill and the lights were aiming up which would happen regardless of what bulbs I'm running.

Park your truck 25 feet away LEVEL, measure the height from the center point of the bulb to the ground (mine happened to be 42" but its lifted w/ taller tires). On your garage door, measure the height of your bulbs and put tape at least 2" below that. I went out and drove around my neighborhood and paid special attention to where my lights cut off. I realized that even at 40", the lights are too high because the 2" below method is more fitting for a car, SUV, or stock height truck. 38" or so ended up being the right height for my cutoff and I felt comfortable that it wouldn't blind folks. Use the video up above to adjust. It is a 8mm socket if I remember correctly.

many of the newer cars and crossover what boxes that come with led lights blind me and i know they are bone stock. i think its something to do with the quality of the lens. cheaper models but with leds seem to make more glare. even when the car is much lower than mine. pretty much all the gm led glare to me. could be my eyes i guess. but the nicer rides like bmw or audi etc with led do not. honestly i looked at these auxitos for my 4g. its lights even with new lens in are still dim.

Just checked, yes the 16k. Now I feel kind of bad. Either going to replace them with something like what WolfgangVTS suggested. Or wait and get it done right with the Morimoto’s or the Alpharex Luxx/Nova.

Give me a few weeks, but maybe we go in together for a small group buy (and thus hopefully a discount) for some Alpharex housings?
