Nearly 3 full years in my LOADED XLT Ranger to the 22 Supercrew 4x4 V8. Felt kinda dirty leaving my faithful Go Cart - quick driving, easy maneuvering Ranger and drove off in the new 22 sexy V8 Lariat. Kinda like leaving with a different girl then I brought to the dance. *While I was very happy with the Ranger the Lariat is opulent in comparison in many ways. I think you get more value for $$ in the F150 while we pay for compactness in the Ranger. The instrumention is alot the same but better thought out in the Lariat and much more sophisticated in nature. The ride is *Smooth*. The power is Vast. Cannot outhandle the Ranger with how you can dart about but that is just plain ole physics. Staring into the engine bay there it all is and lots of work room and very industrial looking.
I miss having front parking sensors on the Lariat. Either the SM fucked me or fucked up not checking a box so I back up most of time now using the rear cameras. Actively seeking aftermarket parking sensor kit for the front of the Lariat. The 360 Camera package is amazing as is the storage capacity befitting a larger truck. Much easier to access oil filter for changes then on the Ranger. The 12 inch display screen is amazing and easy to use. For those questioning, I got $39,000 trade in for my 19 XLT with 302A package with 11,000 miles on her. WIth tax credit that was a $3800 additional credit effectively giving me $42,800 towards my 22 Lariat price on X plan+1k rebate and $500 miltary credit of $55K OTD. Did not make sense not doing this deal in my mind. I effectively drove the Ranger for 3 years at no cost other than gas and registration as I had a negotiated no cost oil change plan in my Ranger deal for 3 years. Sold just short of warranty expiration. F&I made nothing on me and I plan on shopping for an extended warranty with Flood or some Ford Dealer on line. And Yes, Ford fucked me again with a smaller than stock OEM spare tire just like they did us on the Ranger. Air conditioned leather seats are wonderful in the summer! More later.

What kind of tax credit do you get for trading vehicles, since you didn’t trade for an EV?

He is most likely referring to the tax he already paid on the ranger. One should only pay tax on the difference between the trade allowance and the cost of the new vehicle .

Nice ride man! I have had several full sized trucks before going to the Ranger, two being F150s.

F150 vs Ranger are two different beasts for sure with each having it's place. The F150 however is Ford's meat and potatoes so it gets every attention to detail.

Help me understand your numbers a little better please. $55k OTD Doesn't sound that good.......if for example, you owed nothing on your Ranger. If that were the case, the Lariat would sticker for around $90k, which it obviously does not. A few years from now, LOL who knows!

I ask because I know the Rangers have high trade-in value and if the F150 sales get stagnant due to gas prices and recession, I may just take advantage of market conditions. Sure, I will miss the convenience of the Ranger but I like new toys. ;)

Buying today under MSRP is not common any longer with the chip and truck shortage. My Lariat was stickered significantly higher than I paid for it. $55K out the door total cost included tax&registration. Yes, I owned my Ranger outright. It was a fabulous deal. I ordfered it 6 months ago built specifically for me.
