I searched and nothing close to this I find. Never a quirk prior and after. STOP/Start @ stop worked fine prior to parking so battery was charged and worked rite after. parked at kayak launch 10:30am hot C fla sun with dash sun shield in place. 3:30 pm attempt to start, remote unlocked door fine get in but not all the way so I could brush dirt off outside. push button dash lights up and accessories on but no crank. (on a slight incline for fwd motion) Tried moving gear selector but it wouldn't budge. Fiddle and freaked trying everything I could. Park brake lever wasn't touched about to pop hood and check battery ?? one last try apply foot brake and poke button with a slight delay and Walla purring as normal. Stopped @ dealer hoping they could just plug in to check 25 days to get an appointment and they don't know how long a day or??? Loaners a dice throw. I can't duplicate this! Bought the daughter a Acura for college that after sitting in parking for a day or so would not start when it didn't want to. It had that rocket twin cam Honda motor all the tuners wanted so sold it to one that said he would fix1 It never did get fixed so am haunted with the thought. I have owned 2 new to me trucks frontier and now! but believe if it goes to the dealer for a quirk it is only made worse. Any wisdom on has this happened to any here, is there a known glitch, could I not have applied the brake sitting not all the way on the seat. I DON'T WANT TO EXPOSE MY BABY TO POSSIBLE ABUSE @ THE DEALER when there isn't a fault.

I was going to say maybe there was not enough weight on the seat or the brake not applied enough, but I often just reach in and start it from the passenger seat while I go shut the dog's gate so it warms up a little. Maybe the weight sensor thought there was a little kid sitting there trying to start it. You know, like when there is weight on the passenger seat, the air bag turns on, but it will turn off with back pack. (at least my '12 Focus did that)

if the truck can't see the fob, it wont start. even if it's inside the truck.
I have had the fob in the bin near the USB plugs sitting near the AAwireless box, the truck didn't see the fob until I moved it.
keep the fob away from your phone or wallets with magnetic money holders or any other electronic devices.
I was able to reproduce the no-start conditions, but it's not 100% repeatable. So it makes it hard to troubleshoot.

This doesn't sound like the OP's issue, as it went into Accy mode when pressed. Seems more brake pedal related to me.

Oh, and the OP calls his a Garage Queen? :) I just hit 900 miles on mine last month when I took it for gas. It turns 1 year old in a few weeks.

the OP's issue is exactly what happens when the key is not detected. pressing the Start/Stop button puts it into accessory mode.

Not quite. If you try to start it with a key in the vehicle (or if it's not seeing it for whatever reason), you'll get a message in the cluster for "No Key Detected"... and it will NOT go into accessory mode.

That said, I would be in the same camp as others... don't worry about it. A few things that it could be, 1) not enough force of the brake, 2) not a long enough press of the button for the computers to register the push, 3) vehicle was in deep sleep when you got to it, 4) Shifter might not have been locked in park, 5) ??? I'm running out of thoughts on the top of my head, but I'm sure there are more.

Pretty sure that's how it's supposed to work.

Push button with no foot on the brake, acc power. Foot on brake, start. That's the way both my Fords, Ranger included, with push button start have worked.

If yours does that, I hope you still have warranty left.

if the OP could come back and confirm to us...feet in, or feet out....

"get in but not all the way"

then this conversation could end or continue, depending on whether he was all the way in, or not.
I think that maybe it, I was not all the way in....
Thanks to all for the thoughts on this, I canceled the appointment since not even a pause since. So I have to chalk it up to OP error, senior moment, or just a cranium errectuse! Sure am glad too the service department is swamped.
