Yes! Do you find it is when it's not very dark? Or when do you have the issue?
When driving on a dark road.
They turn on like they should on a dark highway. Then there is a house or store with a street kind of light in front of the house or building, then it turns off! Or a reflection off of something or a blinking yellow kight or some random highway light at a interchange. On dark roads.
Works really well with oncoming traffic.
Or i will hit a dark patch in a neighborhood, then a porchlight turns it off! And it never turns on again. It gets real confused in town, if it comes on. Rarely does in town.

Yeah. My auto headlights work just fine.
Its my auto high beams that act quirky, causing me to overide the auto feature many times
Same but I just turned the auto high beams off all together. After it blinded the second person for no reason..... but turns off if it sees a street light off in the distance.

yeah, seriously considering going all manual. Thing is, when it's dark enough, it works great. So I am torn. If I turn it off, then the auto headlights won't come on and I can easily forget to turn them on.
I use auto headlights all the time. the only time I turn that off and go manual with my headlights is when I'm driving through tunnels. there's usually a bit of delay on the auto headlights, so I just turn the headlights on manually. other than that, the auto headlights work very well. I also switch them off if I'm parking and don't want to blast my lights into a window, or I'm just sitting in a parking spot waiting for one thing or another.

auto high beams are off. they work fine deeper in the country. but where I live, they're more of a pain than anything, so I use manual control for my brights.

I too have no issue with the auto headlights. It's the auto high beams that drive me crazy. If it's dark enough for the auto headlights to come on, why won't the auto high beams work? i am talking driving country backroads with little traffic and sparse houses.

they use different sensors and have different criteria.

the auto headlights come on VERY early. If I'm sitting at a stoplight underneath an overpass, they'll come on. if it's cloudy or foggy, they often come on. they are on at dawn/dusk. under none of those scenarios do I want my brights to come on. even if I'm the only vehicle on the road.

I see your point, but I would rather have to toggle off the auto dim off if not needed rather than have to manually turn them on and off when they should be on. Maybe they shouldn't come on whenever the headlights are on, but they should start working sooner than when it's getting very dark out IMO.

meh. I'm not buying what you're selling. can't say I've EVER wanted the brights on when it wasn't very dark out. when I did have the auto brights setting enabled, I never had a problem with when they came on to start.

If you don't get it, you don't get it. That's cool. There is a period of time when it is dark enough to need brights, like dusk and dawn, with the potential for deer and other critters that brights will light up the eyes sooner than dimmed lights. It has to be very dark before my auto dims start working. Too dark.

If you're looking for critters on the side of the road brights are not what you want or need.

You need driving lights. Good ones.

I am using what came standard on the truck. Brights clearly give you an advantage. Why is this so hard to understand? That's what the f*** they are for!

I have switched the headlights to on a few times in heavy rain. Most of the time they kick on if it's bad but if they don't I like to give Houston people a better chance of seeing me when it's wet out. If they can stop looking at their phone for a few seconds anyway.

I'm sorry that my suggestion for the problem you posted is offensive to you.

But in fact, sir, that's not "what the fuck they are for."

Brights are for seeing farther INTO THE DISTANCE. Not the side of the road where critters waiting to pounce out live. If you want to see the side of the road you want to throw the light out sideways, not up as your brights or "high beams" will do.

If you want a real solution to your problem, it's there. Get a good set of driving lights for your fog pockets. If you just want to bitch an whine that something doesn't work the way YOU think it should, by all means continue on.

You sound like my 16 year old daughter.

Hmmm, I could swear that mine come on when the wipers are on.

Or maybe that's my Jeep.

Now I'll have to remind myself to check.

You must have a very intelligent daughter. Insert 200lb deer in place of the little stick people. A deer a few yards on the side of the road is only 1 second from being "in" the road.
"The difference between low and high beams is that low beams are used for normal nighttime driving while high beams are used in rural areas or small roads with very little or no light at all.

Low beams are angled towards the road and should be always kept on in low light settings while high beams are angled upwards for extra light and should only be used for very short periods of time as to not blind other drivers."
