No option to switch-off autowipers. Why do they have to be automatic anyway? I can guarantee that if I'm driving the vehicle and it starts to rain, I will turn on the wipers. No need for the vehicle to do it.
There is an option to turn them off?

Move the stalk all the way down.

Yes, you can turn them off:

SETTINGS > VEHICLE > WIPERS

Ok, then stop hitting the stalk with your big 'ole mitts Andre.

Maybe they should retire the stalk? On/off button maybe with a dial to control wiper timing? I'd do that with the transmission too. The goofy lever in the middle of the console just takes up space unnecessarily. Not like the transmission is mechanical anyway.

I just have the courtesy wipe (XLT). It on/off does absolutely nothing.

This is a YOU problem.

Not a Ranger problem.

No. It's a design flaw. My Ex's RAV4 is tinier and I've never had that problem there. Mom has a Ford Escape, same deal. No problems. My hands are not big. I'm 6'4" and 198lbs. I am not a knuckle dragger. However the wipers get activated, there should be a way to turn them off.

There IS!

Move the stalk down!

That's the only way. There is no rain sensing selection because you don't have rain sensing wipers.

If you can't figure it our you should trade vehicles with your wife.

I'll bet she's smart enough to figure it out.

If I move the stalk down, the wipers do not stop. They just cycle again a few moments later and again and again... Up one/down one, same deal. They just stay on. I can get in to the truck now, after it sitting for about two hours, go and the wipers will come on without me doing a thing. I read the manual, did some online search (including here). I resent your inference that I'm stupid because this equipment does not work properly (due to design flaw). No need to be nasty. The vehicle is a lease with two more years left on it. Believe me, I'll be looking into trading it in at the earliest possible opportunity. I've been driving Fords for thirty years, and this one's the worst by far.

Move the stalk ALL THE WAY down. To the OFF position.

It really doesn't get much easier than that.

I agree, but that doesn't happen. They just stay on. I understand the idea behind how they work, but it just doesn't happen that way. The wipers just stay on. Bright & sunny (rare in NJ), wipers are on. It's more complicated than it needs to be and the design is dated. Get rid of the stalks. If you're concerned about those controls being within easy reach, ditch the phone controls on the steering wheel. All of that is controlled by Sync anyway.

If they truly won't turn off it is not a design problem. It's a problem with YOUR TRUCK. I guarantee every other Ranger driver can turn their wipers off.

Take it to the dealership. If there is a problem with the truck it'll be easy to diagnose and fix. If there's a problem with your understanding of how to turn it off, they'll educate you.

Bitching and moaning on a forum won't get you anywhere. All of us know how to turn our wipers off. We can't show you anymore than what we have. And we can't fix it for you from here.

Take it to the dealership. Your solution, whatever it is, lies there.

No doubt. I was originally asking if there was a way to modify functionality aside from what I read in the manual. Isn't that what a forum is meant to do?

I mean, yes, that's what a forum is for. But usually "modifying the functionality" of a vehicle is for people with at least a basic understanding of vehicles.

You think your XLT has rain sensing or Auto wipers, and you don't think your Ranger has a turbo.

You need to start with an intro to automotive theory first.

Modifying your trucks functionality because you can't figure out the on/off switch is throwing the baby out with the bath water.
