Is there a way to allow the rear windows to operate while locked from the driver’s side. The front windows work just fine.

I’ve read the manual but nothing except it’s there.

I like to roll the rear windows down just enough for my pup to put her head but if unlocked she steps on the window button and it rolls all the way down. It’s a hassle making sure it’s locked after unlocking to roll windows down or up.

Is there anyway to defeat this?

unlock, adjust rear windows where you want them, then lock.

Not sure about a setting.

I used these when I was letting my dogs inside the truck. It was more to protect my interior, but they're fairly thick. Depending on the size of your dog they might keep the window switch from depressing.

And since you started a dog related thread without posting pics, here are my mutts in the Ranger.

Maybe double side tape a plate over the switch. Velcro in place maybe. I just wish there was a snap in solution. If I had a 3D printer to play around with I could probably make something work..

you could disconnect the window switches on the rear doors.
Maybe sometimes they need to be connected for the driver’s door to work them . I don’t have the schematic might need a jumper or 2.

I have a SuperCab so I don't know about the Ranger.
But on my Transit connect I can lock the window controls separately.
from the driver's seat.
Look at page 75 in the owner's manual under "windows and mirrors"
That's the page in the 2019 Ranger Manual

"Safety Switch for the Rear Windows"

Note: Once you press the safety switch, you
can still operate the rear windows and front
passenger window from the driver door
if you have global opening and closing.

TPU so it won't scratch the plastic. Just wider than the housing so it squeezes into place. Small gap in the front to be able to pull it out when needed. Windows won't go up or down.

I'll play with the design a bit to get a draft angle to the top so it fits a bit snugger. But it works.

Working on a few tweaks. They press in nice and tight and they appear to stay in place real well. The switch can be sensitive where the window cannot be controlled from the drivers controls if the switch is slightly pressing up or down. Pressing into place solves this, but its a bit too sensitive yet.

Maybe also add a flat surface that covers the switch and pocket molding with rounded edges?? It might give some relief to the switch pressure..

Just spitballing here..

Good work Jeff, I’m sure there’s a market there and possibly transfer to other fords. I’m sure it’s a common setup…

I can be your beta tester!! ?

The switch has two positions for the lack of a better description.

When the rear switch is engaged (either up or down) slightly the circuit for the drivers side controls is disabled so no two switches have control at the same time. Further engagement of the switch activates the motor. Not sure how this is done through the module but there is obviously some sort of multiplexed control wire.

Just had to find the sweet spot between static and slightly engaged.

Easy test is to put the window in a half open/close position.
Lock the rear windows with the drivers controls.
Position the stop.
Unlock the windows.
Window should move (switch not engaged).
Window should open close from the drivers controls.
Window should not move with pressure on the switch (stop should prevent switch engagement).

Only real question is there enough compression with the stop to retain its position long term since a vehicle is a vibration prone environment. I think it should be fine since its quite a bit of surface area on the sides to provide friction to hold it in place. But with anything like this testing is required.
