What is an accurate timeline for new orders?

So I ordered my Ranger 6 weeks ago this week. When I did the dealer told me “6-8 weeks is the usual but we are telling people 12 weeks just in case it takes longer.” Given the status of everything in the world recently I assumed 12 weeks would be more accurate. I called the dealer at 4 weeks seeing if they heard anything regarding a potential build date or anything, they said Ford hasn’t acknowledged the order yet.
So back to my question in the title, what is an accurate timeline for someone who ordered recently? Should I receive info about a build date any time soon?

This is always a fluid thing. When I ordered May 18th, the dealer said a minimum of 15 weeks and possibly as long as 23 weeks. My dealer then notified me on 7/9 that my truck had been assigned a scheduled build date of 8/11. If I am to believe the Ford order tracking site, it got moved up to 8/9. Either way, call it 12 weeks. I think production seems to be improving in regards to turnout from when I ordered mine. Others have ordered much more recently and have been given shorter estimates. You should be able to take the customer order number from you order paperwork (or get it from the dealer) and ask your dealer for the VIN (or call Ford for it) and begin watching the order tracking site. It won't be accurate but it'll give you some idea. Warning though, it becomes painful to watch it everyday and not see a change.

Mine still shows in production on the tracking site. Lack of update can either mean it's waiting on an option (likely to get bedliner spray) or that like many others have found, the site is slow to update.

About a month ago I toyed with the idea of selling the Ranger for an F150 the salesman told me that Ford wants them to tell customers delivery should be in about 6-8 weeks, but in reality it will be at least 3 months before they actually start building it. Then it could be another 1-3 weeks for delivery depending on where you are in relation to the factory.

I think a lot depends on what you order.
I ordered XLT, Crew, 4wd, locking rear, Towing pack, 301A, chrome

6/15 ordered from dealer
6/21 ford accepted order
8/10 window sticker came on line. (shows blend date of 8/16 which is when all the parts "blend" into the line).
8/18 ford tracking showed in production with est delivery 9/15
8/19 ford tracking showed it was built.
(at this point you need to ask your dealer for rail car number)
8/23 Train left
1300 miles later
8/28 train arrived at CSX yard 20 miles from dealer. And the truck still sits there

I think that is 9 weeks to build and so far 1+ week to ship

while some others are seeing way longer times.

I am approaching 20 weeks from my order date (first week of April).
The fleet manager that I am working with had an initial estimate of 20 weeks.
So I am expecting 24-26 weeks with an October delivery date (my pessimistic estimate)

Ordered my Tremor 05/14. Went into production 08/11 and still shows in production. My dealer can see a note that says “chips”. The estimated delivery on the order tracking site says 10/31/21. Not happy !

I ordered my Tremor XLT, trailer tow, and remote start on 6-17. I had a VIN about 3 weeks after order. An 8/18 blend, and it showed up at the dealer 8/20 late afternoon. I'm in Cleveland too. We're less than 3 hours from MAP. My dealer told me not to get the bed liner because it would delay my order. They also mentioned they had 1 more Tremor allocated to them. I think it depends on parts constraints, and maybe dealer allocation. I hope you get yours soon. I would call customer service with your dealer code and order number, and see if you have a VIN.

Did not order a spray in bed liner as my dealer said that could slow things down. My truck Is a Rapid Red Lariat Tremor with 501 equipment package, tow package and key pad.
