I got hit in the rear end a while back (not my ranger) and did some very minor damage (still costed $2500) paid by the other guys insurance. Cops came and didn't even make a report. I was worried it would show up on carfax since it was an insurance claim, but it never did.
I've had this argument with others who swear by CarFax. Now I'm not saying it's not a good thing to do when buying a used vehicle, it's just that not everything will show up on there. There's always someone willing to repair something and keep it off book for a "certain price". Or in your case a cop who just never reported the accident.

Not a fan of carfax at all. We wanted to buy a used Subaru Crosstrek, just for a few yrs then buy
the Ranger. Well, at every Subaru dealer with carfax & 'certified cars' nothing matched.
I gave up, bought the Ranger.

We should start a new thread on here. Did you buy your Ranger from Carvana? What’s your issues? ?
No need to. A few months from now all the new CarFax Ranger owners will find this forum and create them. Hopefully not but it seems like a good way to dispose of your troubled vehicle right now especially if there are no obvious signs.

Made this mistake a couple times when coming off the dirt and onto the pavement and also when driving around Dallas during the last winter storm.

It seems alright to drive around sparingly on icy roads in 4wd, but definitely turn it off in parking lots etc.. Any advise otherwise?

My 1st true 4wd, had an AWD car previously, so I too overlooked this fact the 1st time I used it. Curious is I should not use it on, say 30-45 mph city streets when it is snowy or icy. Won't happen often here, but it was nice during our rare snow storm.
