I just noticed I forgot to order chrome running boards in my build and it goes to production on the 25th making it too late to add them to my order. Will the dealer be able to get and install the factory running boards before I pick my truck up when it gets delivered?

Yes, but it will probably be higher cost that the factory install.

Running boards... Form or function? Style or utility?... I heard some online/YouTube reviewers complain that the factory running boards are awkward when used as a step to enter cab. Ironically, an install at the dealer could show you whether they “work” the way you’d prefer before buying. If not to your liking, then other aftermarket vendors with alternate geometries are available. For example: just learned today on this site that nFab will be making several options. Also mentioned elsewhere, ADD, ProComp, probably lots others. Just sayin’...

Check Dee Zee Hex Steps. That's what I put on mine. Easy to install and work great if you just need steps.

For me depends on the shoes I'm wearing. Tennishoes work fine, but I wear snow boots pretty much all winter and the boards are too close to the cab to be useful with bulky boots.

They used to be on Ford accessories for 399. But now they are gone. Probably Ford didnt want to hurt their 635. price tag for factory install. Very easy to install.

Yes, and it could be cheaper than if you had ordered them! Price is around $375 at Dealer and installation is 1/2hr. Less than the $695 Sticker price.
