It’s very scary to see all these new gun owners, yet most have never picked up, fired, and been properly trained on using a gun!!!
Most of these people last year most likely wanted limits, stricter gun laws and even our rights to own guns taken away!!! My my how things change.
Even worse is the carry test here both on paper and at the range is ridiculously easy.
Too easy.

I never had to take the test back in MA as I've had my CCW since I was 21 and they didn't require it way back then. When I went for my out of state permit in CT I took it and it was easy there too.

At the range I went to there were only 6 of us and the instructor was really cool. No textbook BS we just sat around for about an hour telling us the basics and asking if we had any questions. He said he'd rather spend the majority of the time on the range because he will be able to teach more skills there than just reading from a textbook. Plus I think he's rather be out shooting than just sitting in a classroom. It's always good to take refresher courses because you can fall into bad habits which are hard to correct once you've been doing them for years.

I'll watch a lot of Youtube videos which can really be helpful with your grip, trigger control and stance. The last few years I started shooting my AR's more and got away from pistol shooting. I've been trying to shoot pistol more than my rifles lately and I've adjusted my grip a little and it makes a big difference. Sometimes you don't realize how small little adjustments can make a big difference.

The written test was much common sense. The shooting test was so-so easy. I scored 100 and could have did the same at another 3 yards or more.
A girl taking the test was shooting for the first it seemed. She didn't know anything about the pistol. At the class we were given 22acp I believe Taurus pistols. She had at least 2" curled finger tails and scored a 90. You need a 65 to pass. 50 shots and 35 in the big zone.

Here in GA you don't have to take a class. Mainly a background check, fingerprints. We have instructors and courses you can take but they are not required to get a Weapon Carry Permit. We can carry open and concealed. Our WCP also covers other weapons like long knives. We don't need one for rifles/shotguns.

My wife and I have had a WCP since 1986. We have taken a couple of courses for refresher's and to stay up on all the law changes that has happened in the last 10yrs. The wife doesn't have a tight grouping as you would normally see. BUT she will be dead center, from between the eyes to the crotch ?. The instructor was impressed with the way she stayed centered. It's sight alignment that she needs to work on. But she never missed the target.

The LaserHit program that we have has really helped her (and me) with the sight alignment. Now we have to take the practice to the range to see if it really helped. Hopefully will be doing that within the next couple of weeks.

I've been meaning to look into the LaserHit you bought but forgot, thanks for reminding me. Might get it once my stimulus check comes in.

Why does it seem that they're always good aim at the crotch area?

Look what I just ordered..... I wanted a 1911 but the one like I had in the Military was to large with the standard barrel so I looked for and found some mini 9mm 1911s.

Came down to two possible selections SIGP928 and Kimber Micro 9
I chose the Kimber as it has a $300 CT grip laser I am not A big fan of rail mounted Lasers...They tend to make the gun to bulky and holsters are a bitch to locate. So I went with the Rosewood Grip laser. $569 no tax no shipping FFL fee is $25 here. I wanted something a tad smaller than the P365 in height, Because of the smaller grip. The 8 round mag has a place for the pinky.

I initially bought a Springfield 911 380 but I want ALL my guns to work in 9mm. Only need to buy 9mm. Except the SW AR10/22 .22s are super cheap and Dave you were right, It's a kick to play with although it has me wanting the Big brother in 9mm or .223.

So my limit is THREE handguns and two rifles. My wife doesn't care what I buy. B ut I would like to get rid of her SW .38 Special in favor of the P365 or Micro 9 for carry. She is afraid 9mm will jam. I need to drag her to the range. I go twice a week at least.

I told her she cannot just get a carry and then don't practice. It's the responsibility of the CCW holder to GET TRAINED and practice practice. The initial classes and shooting is only the beginning of proper training The responsibility is on the CCW holder to get competent.
Instructor here is $35/hour. I am going to take a couple hours to correct bad habits before they become bad habits. You Tube is good but no feedback......

I m looking to be accurate at 15 yards so I can lose the rail mounted lasers. I don't use a laser when at the range. Kind of defeats the purpose. I want to build enough confidence and skill to shoot without lasers. For now they would help...a lot LOL

The second pic is the one I initially ordered after agonizing about it I called and switched the order to the stainless steel rosewood model.
Wasn't sure about the desert two tone.

One advantage of the stainless version is 3 oz lighter than the SIG P365 and the SIG is polymer!! What am I missing here??LOL

Nice! I was looking at that same one a while back but I already have a 1911 micro with my Springfield EMP. I think you'll really like it. Mine runs so smooth and after getting it back is dead accurate. I love my Kimber and also eying another with the CT grips but it's the KHX Pro with a 4" barrel.

Good choice too with the SS and rosewood grips! I really like the Desert Tan look and have a couple AR's in that color but I think it would've looked better with a SS frame than the black one. Plus that's a good price, where did you get it from?

I love my M&P 15-22 and now with the suppressor it's even more fun to shoot not having to wear a headset. I do need to find a cheap scope, mine came with a red dot and I don't like it. I know Amazon has a few cheap ones but I might have one hiding in the back of the safe somewhere.

I bought it at a small place I found called Family Firearms I think they are in ALABAMA. Really nice people. They had the lowest price nationally as far as I went any way all the usual suspects.

Tell me about that suppressor...Can you shoot without neighbors 20 feet away knowing its a real gun? I d love to shoot out my back door setting up targets across the pond ...

Mine came as a package with a cheap scope but does its job . Problem is no diopter settings for those needing glasses...But it does keep my eye off the reticle and on the target. I think that's a good thing...

Damn they have the KHX Pro in stock and it's $30.00 cheaper than other places I've looked. I must resist! :curse:

Yes the 22 suppressor is quieter than my pellet gun. The first round pop is a little louder (but still not bad) and then it's really quiet. The biggest pain is waiting for the tax stamp which can take up to a year. Some have got theirs back in 4-6 months but all mine have been 10-12 months. I'm just using cheap bulk pack ammo too if you use sub sonic it'll be even quieter but I don't think it's necessary with 22's. Even my 9mm suppressors are hearing safe using regular 115 grn or 124 grn Federal. Now they're louder than the 22 but still very quiet where two of us were shooting suppressed and the was no need for hearing protection. This is the 22 can I have,it's a little pricey but it's super light weighing only 4.3 oz and it's all titanium and SS. I'll try to take a short video next time we go out but it may be a while as I just picked up 3 more jobs and I won't have time for a couple weeks.

KHXPRO Sweet 45....and comes in a nine as well for a tad more ..

.I was shopping 1911s was going to buy a TSIS made one but with the cost of ammunition I will never get good enough to carry that monster around....Hell 9mm has increased at least 30% As soon as this virus runs it's course ammunition sellers will be pricing right.

Go figure suppressors out of stock. I have to read up on the laws regarding suppressors I don't know what the suppressor laws are if any. South Carolina gov pretty much leaves us alone.

I really never considered a CCW here until now because anyone can carry a weapon in thier vehicles loaded and within reach but out of sight,. I had a Rossi 38 all those years, My wife got her CCW five years ago.....LOL I was lazy and guns were not a hobby.....Too much happening around the world not to carry if one can.

As we get older we become the soft targets....

Here's the other 22 can I just bought back in February this year. I wanted a second one so when me and my girlfriend go shooting we could both have one to use at the same time. Everything I read on it was very good it's just not titanium which is no big deal especially for the cost difference. They were great to deal with and when I called I spoke with the owner directly. They also have an additional 5% off which will pop up when you get on their site.

The KHX Pro would be in 9mm. Like you I've condensed most of mine into a few calibers mostly being 9mm,22 and 223.

I just received my CCW this week in the mail. We don't need them here either but I wanted it so I didn't have to go through the NICS check every time I bought a gun and because we're going to Utah in July and it's reciprocal there so I can carry. All I needed to do was show a copy of my old MA CCW and fill out the forms and fingerprints. I didn't need to take the course because I already had my CCW from another state.

Looks like there's no problem owning a suppressor in SC. You just have to pay for the tax stamp ($200) and wait. I have mine in an unlimited trust so if anything were to happen to me the government can't just take them and my girlfriend doesn't have to jump through hoops, she's the beneficiary. They also have single shot trusts which are cheaper but once you get one you'll want another one...Trust me!

Thanks for the information. I'm going to look into it. I just got my CCW few months ago maybe sooner I don't remember. I don't remember a lot of things these days. By the way did you get an attachment for the barrel on your M&P 15-22 SPORT to use the suppressor to screw onto?

When your Kimber comes in just talk to the dealer who's doing the transfer. Some don't have a license to do NFA items but he might know another dealer who does. Also check around because their prices vary . One local dealer here charges $150.00 for NFA and another only $50.00. There's more paperwork involved and fingerprints unlike just doing a background check for a gun purchase which usually takes a few minutes. If you buy through the Silencer Shop it's a free transfer and they do have a few in stock here. They do have the CGS like I bought (and still waiting for approval) it's a little more money but you don't pay any transfer fees. The Silencer Shop does all the paperwork and makes it super easy to purchase. It's as easy as ordering a pizza from an app. lol They should have a local dealer with their Kiosk nearby.

Your 15-22 barrel should already be threaded 1/2x28. Just remover the flash hider at the end,it's 3/4 wrench. Sometimes they'e a little tight so lay it flat on something smooth and it's easier if you have someone hold the receiver flat as you break it free. There's also a spacer behind the flash hider which is hard to tell it's there but make sure you don't lose that. When you get a suppressor you just take off the flash hider and spacer and screw it on,22's are direct thread. Just check it once in a while because they tend to lose after a mag or two. Oh,use an over mitt, they get really hot fast.

When you go on the Silencer Shop site in the top right you'll see where you can select a dealer. There should be one close by that has the Kiosk. You just add all your info into the Kiosk and it will take your fingerprints (digital). Then you download their app and take a selfie to add your picture on file.

If you're going to buy one I would buy it through the Silencer Shop because there's NO sales tax and they will ship it free to your dealer to hold onto until your tax stamp is approved. There are no transfer fees either. You can call them and they will walk you through everything on your order. So first go to the dealer and set up your account through the Kiosk, then download the app and input your picture. Just tell the dealer you're undecided on the suppressor right now and go back home and order from the SS. Once you have everything all set up the next one is as easy as calling them (or ordering online) and placing the order, just like how you bought the Kimber.
