Hello everyone,

I am hoping someone can help me out with some picture and advice. I have a yeasu FTM400XDR I want to install. I have read people putting the main body under the seat but I would like to see how. Also any other locations that people have installed their radios would be appreciated. Looking to install it this weekend. Behind the rear seat is a no-go, I have the subwoofer and carry a couple things back there.
thank you all in advance.

Hi Pedro,

I am guessing this is a ham radio? I ran a powerpoint to under the drive's seat and there is some room under there I came from the battery with a fused at the battery 14ga wire through the wiring loom plug to the left of the steering shaft. Good luck on your install!

Phil, thank you. I am definitely running the wires up through the drivers side pass through. My biggest hold up is how and where to mount the main body of the HAM radio. Do you happen to have any pictures on how you mounted the radio under the seat?

thank you

did he work at Hyundai Kia during the years, 2007-2009, quality engineering? I remember meeting someone by that name while working for Hyundai Kia at the quality center in California.

Hi Phil,

the automotive industry is a small world, stick around long enough and you see the same people in different roles.

I got the HAM radio mounted in the vehicle over the weekend. I still have some clean up on the wiring to do but I am on the air.

How did you secure the radio body to the floor underneath the passenger seat? That's my current hold up. I'm not sure if it is safe to screw bolts directly into the floor.

I used 3M Velcro strip. Holds up really well. Placed the hook side on the radio mounting bracket. It sticks really well the carpet under the seat. Have not had any issue with it.

Same here, I 3d printed a new bracket with the full footprint of the radio and lowered. This allowed me to use two 2" velcro strips to hold it under the seat. I didn't think the original metal bracket gave enough footprint for holding power.
