@Trigganometry yes we do for sure. We love hitting state parks, museums, etc.

@Msfitoy Beckley is about 3.5 hours from Charlotte depending on how you drive. @WV_Ranger has offered to give suggestions on things to do and see. I would like to know what he has to say. We definitely want to go back.

Alan,
Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. I wish someone would have told me when I was younger that getting older takes up so much of your time with Dr. Appointments and doing adult stuff!

So I will give you a list of things to see and try to organize it by the part of the State. It will be in no particular order and the best thing I can recommend is to google or ask for more info and get yourself a map to plot your trip on! WV is a small state but we have a lot of very cool things to see! With that being said this is not then entire list because I am sure there are things I will forget or leave off. :)

Southern WV (South East WV)
Greenbrier Hotel
Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine
Sandstone Falls
Blue Stone Lake State Park
Pipestem State Park (Nice Lodge)
Watoga State Park (Highly Recommend renting a CCC Cabin)
Droop Mountain Battlefield
Bear Town State Park
Lewisburg
John Henry Memorial and Statue
Greenbank National Observatory
Lake Shawnee Abandoned Amusement Park (supposed to be haunted)
Cass Scenic Railroad (Would be cool to ride the train to see the leaves in the fall)

Haha yeah it is. I try to be thorough when providing info.
We have a lot of scenery and history. We have been the most northern southern state, the most southern northern state, the most western Eastern state, and the most eastern western state throughout our history. George Washington actually surveyed the ohio Valley and allegedly camped in my home town!

Plus I like to dispell the myth we are inbred, alcoholic, poor, shoeless, hillbillies.

As a teacher, you just get to see them before he does. Most of the time

@WV_Ranger So far I've got the ones changed to red, now that leaves a ton more to get to. We were going to Nuttallburg but there was a mudslide and the road was closed. Have a good customer up in Moundsville, want to tour the old prison there.

Also, fell in love with the Seneca Skyway. That's a very nice drive, would prefer it in the 350 vs. the Ranger though.

Maybe we need to plan an east coast Ranger meet in WV. Could probably draw a nice crowd.

Well you got a good start lol. Hopefully it's helpful for your next trip. I know that i find it hard sometimes to find information when traveling and helps when you can ask a local!

I can't believe I forgot the prison!! I guarantee there's other things I've missed as well. East coast meet up here would be cool. Plenty of Scenic drives to take. Rt33, Rt 60, Rt 250, Coal Heritage trail. Whatever you do make sure you get some pepperoni rolls and Mr Bees potato chips! Lol
