I ordered a '22 Ranger SuperCab XL-Special Edition on 12/21. I've since learned about the seatbelt recall that is affecting 2021 Rangers at dealerships (they aren't allowed to sell them, and have no ETA when they will be fixed)

I am wondering what will happen to 2022 SuperCab's that are in the order process. Will they be delayed? Or will they just build these properly? (No need for a recall)

Fact of the matter, we ordered a SuperCab because this will not be a family vehicle. Even if we paid more for a Super Crew, we wouldn't use the backseat for people.

But..If there is to be a big delay on 22 SuperCrew's, I might consider changing our order to a SuperCab though.

Thoughts?

It's not only the seatbelt anchor recall it's the rear seat headrest's, they are being recalled because they have to be removable to accept certain type of baby seats back there without the headrest. Initially for the 2019 model they were removable, then they were changed to fixed(not sure when either in '20 or '21)
There are still '21's sitting at the factory waiting and a couple dealers i called had Sc's on the lot couldn't sell because Ford put a sales hold till the parts become available.
Also if you search on Fords website for SC's in you postal zip code area you may see '21's built but not delivered yet those are the ones waiting for the parts
I myself ordered a '21 SC in August, got cancelled late Nov. moved to a '22 on Dec 1 as i read about the delays and no answer from my dealer and not being able to wait for possible months again i cancelled the order and found a excellent low mileage '19 SC that im thrilled with.
Good luck with your decision hope it works out for you.

Welp, my dealer called me back and seems to think its a non issue. That they won't make the same mistake on the not-yet-built '22s. I'm still way early in the order process (ordered 12/21, but with Christmas in the way I consider today week one). So will sit tight for now. If something good shows up on dealer lots I can always get my deposit back. But at the moment, getting a ranger that is actually on a dealer lot is hard to do, so I may as well let the order continue.
