I'm thinking a DIY engine grid...the science can't be that tough...I remember my dad built an electric grid to kill rats in our house...don't ask me where we lived lol...
Alabama?
Or maybe Florida?

According to this Wikipedia article on dog whistles, they operate right in that same frequency range, so I'm not sure how pet-friendly this device would be. Interesting concept, but I'd have to dig into that a little deeper before pulling the trigger; that and the fact that its lowest operating temp may not be low enough for winters around here, although depending on how easy the installation is, I suppose that I could remove it in the winter - the rodents are all napping anyway.
There are dogs in my neighborhood that run off leash all the time, so if it deters them then good.
Winters in Illinois get pretty cold too, but I would think that's when rodents would want to get in the engine bay for warmth, not spring or summer.
