What is this wire?? Ranger 2016 XLT

Hi folks

Opened my bonnet today, and something caught my eye... there was a bare wire just to the front of the fuel filter housing, that turned out to be attached to a connection that was sat rubbing against the Auxiliary belt!

Got a few pics, and moved it out of the way to hopefully stop any further issues.

No error codes and no idea what part of the loom its for, any ideas?

I did get an ESC message pop up this eve, but I think that was coincidental, is it looks as though this wire has been broken for a fair amount of time.

Clearly goes to that there connection. Wonder what it does. Your engines are different over there so I am of no help.

that had to take a good Hit to pull that pin out of the connector! and break the black/grey off totally, someone that worked on it climbed in the engine and stepped on it....
cut the connector off and wire it direct, and something on the truck will come back to life LOL

the mouse probably drives a 19-23 he dont know what he bit through either?
