FWIW: those 440i BMWs were both bought as CPO‘s. I could not justify the sticker price on them brand new. They truly both had every option possible, and the only thing missing was AWD. But it was the track package, with the big ass brakes, and a couple other parts that I loved, or AWD. All of them were M sport.

so with them stickering brand new in the mid $60k range due to all of the options (more likely $70k after taxes and registration), the first one was a bargain, and the second one was just unreal!

Yeah, it was when I was with Mercedes in 2003 when I learned what real braking was like. My buddy took me on a test drive in a 2003 SL55 AMG and slammed the brakes so hard my butt came off the seat.

For our trucks, larger diameter tires, towing or even summer off-roading can get brakes toasty. I know my front rotor MIGHT have the ever slightest warp but 60k miles I am not complaining, surprised truthfully I haven't even needed pads yet. So, knowing I must be close to wearing them out I want to plan for brakes.

The only thing I dont like about the Wilwood is the drilled rotors, I think I rather have slotted for off-road but the price is tough to beat. They have been around forever and while I do not know how healthy the company is, the pads and rotors are dirt cheap so I may get a second pair and store them if I worry about it.

Otherwise, there are some appealing options from other countries.
