Seriously, it's legit!

Saw this on my way to pick up supplies for a project this morning. A dent in my drivers door sill. The PPF makes it look a bit...odd. The only way I can think this happened is when I dropped my phone getting out a few days ago and bounced out the truck to the ground. What is the Pixel 5a made of?! Maybe I should check the ground for a crater?

Why Ford is going backwards on designs, and not supplying these on every new Ranger, especially on every 4x4, is a mystery to me.

Folks don't believe me but the UHSS (Ultra High Strength Steel) is ultimately strong but very easy to dent in this fashion. Door dings, hail, hitting it too hard with your knuckle etc. Aluminum body panels actually resist these types of dents more effectively.

In fact I do believe you, in the early 1980's I used to drive a Range Rover, one of the original 2 door ones with the Buick / Rover 3.5 V8. They had an all alloy body. Where we live unfortunately violent summer storms with huge hail are not uncommon, you can pretty much guarantee that at least one or more suburbs or local towns will really cop it once or twice over summer.
Well one (previously) fine November day I got stuck in traffic on what was then the south east freeway out of the city when one came over. It sounded like a war was going on outside and I really thought I was going to lose the windshield. I could see hail bouncing off the car in front of me and leaving visible dings. What really pissed me off was I was only a couple of clicks from home and a covered garage but was stuck on the freeway. When I finally got home I pulled into the garage, flicked on the light and expected to see a moonscape. WTF, a few minor hardly visible dings on the roof, and one cracked tail light and spot light. One of my workmates who as it turned out I later discovered was about 6 or so cars ahead of me (we left work about the same time) had her car written off, I saw it, lost windscreen and back window and looked like a golf ball. Oh yes and I have a little ding on my rear door jamb on my ranger where my son dropped the seat belt buckle.
