Haha challenge accepted. The way I see it is I have two options
Option A: drive my truck responsibly and make it last
Option B: drive it like I stole it and do a good enough job so that I get all major items replaced before the 60k mile warranty runs out.
Ah choices.
I can tell you option A doesn't work...go with option B and get an extended warranty before it's too late...or start saving up $6k...

Man I just started doing some math (dangerous concept) and realized we’re paying way more than a transmission per year for my youngest kids daycare. The last few years worth of daycare for two kids and I could have a backup luxury truck in the driveway ? In all seriousness, I may add on a secondary warranty. I’ll have to price options out. Im not sure if it’s best to wait until my factory ones is about to expire or not. But who knows I may just set aside some extra cash for the “oh shit” fund and forget about it. I am really curious what actually failed on yours. Either way you have your truck back and your truck is honestly probably now in a condition to drive it as long as you want. Maybe it was just all those badass upgrades that overloaded your truck and the tranny couldn’t keep up. ? Mines way more basic but I’m fine with that. I’ll live my truck modding dreams vicariously through your posts.

Nah, Sid is alright. Just feeling a little hurt by his Ranger.
Well, I feel bad. I’m here at 5k miles whining about the transmission being weird and he’s living the Ranger life at 100k plus. Remember when Forrest Gump went for that run and just kept on running. That’s Sids Ranger. And we’re that group that kept following. When Forrest quit those following didn’t know what to do anymore. Well yeah this is something like that. Except Sid isn’t quitting because then what would we do. As Joe Dirt once said, you gotta just keep on keeping’ on. Shit, I just reread that, I need to go to bed. ?

I notice the transmission a lot on this truck, which is not something I want. I love every other part of the truck, but it just feels like the transmission can't get consistent and takes a lot of the fun out of driving this quick little truck. Sometimes it's incredibly silky smooth, other times the revs will hang for a little in-between 4-5 or 6-7 and then just jolt into place. I've also never noticed a vehicle downshift as much during breaking. You feel every downshift and each one pushes you forward a bit. Especially the last shift from 3rd -> 1st. Makes consistent braking difficult.

Concerning the topic of the thread, I have noticed this since day one. Almost feels like it is preprogramed to get to 3K RPM and the upshift. Which is unfortunate when you are trying to crawl around a parking lot. It's a lot of slowly accelerating, lifting off pedal, truck continues climbing for a second, press the break and it upshifts to 3rd as you break to a stop, repeat. A little frustrating.

Owned the truck for 2 years and these have not driven me crazy yet, but they sure are annoying.

Yep, the transmission definitely lets me know it’s there. Overall, I really like this truck. I’m critical of some things because well for what we pay nowadays I think we can be. Things cost more I get it, but vehicles have gone up substantially. 5 years ago if you told me I’d be paying close to 40k for a midsized truck I would have told you you’re out of you mind. I test drove this truck for about 45 minutes and really liked it overall. Some things can be hard to notice during a test drive but I had a good idea of what I was buying. The transmission will have days of exceptional shifting followed by short periods where it’s seems confused. I notice that if I drive for a day in tow mode, the following day if I drive back in normal mode I’ll get the more aggressive downshifts first thing, just like in tow mode. Almost like shift data bleeds over in different driving modes. I did a test the other day and drove in tow and then put it in normal immediately after, and normal mode downshifts felt like tow mode. Next day, normal drove just fine. My only other complaint is the take of shudder but I’ve gotten used to it and honestly didn’t know I had it until I read about it. I always figured that was the transmission shifting but when paying attention to the gear screen, notice it happens in first and at exactly 10 miles per hour. I’m willing to wager many of these trucks have it but drivers think it’s just the transmission shifting out of first. You have to really pay attention to discover it. I can live with it and have gotten used to this truck and it’s quirks. If I notice something new I’ll post a question and chances are than others have noticed it as well. The truck works perfect for me and at the end all I really want is for it to be reliable. The pros outweigh the cons with this truck. All in all I really enjoy driving it. Also, I ran a tank of 93 last week and that made a difference in how the engine behaved at slower speeds in town. Way less bog when rpm’s drop low.
