We all walked outside the office for 20 minutes and watched... it was pretty cool. There was a collective sigh of disappointment that the zombies didn't rise from the ground and attack! ...cant have it all....

According to the news, being in the NEK of Vermont, we had some of the clearest skies along the path. We were in the area of totality. Set up my phone, sat my butt down on a chair, put the special glasses under my prescription glasses and spent about an hour and a half watching the event. it's always breezy on our property, so it was a cool breeze on a spring day of about 55*. By the time the sun was 7/8 or so covered, it got downright chilly, enough for a cold weather fan to get a coat. Maybe it was my imagination, or maybe I was so chilled out, but all birds were silent and it seemed like the breeze stopped completely. Only during the total eclipse part, then started right back. I enjoyed the time of peaceful silence, passing up an opportunity to be with neighbors. Smart choice. If I were to witness again, I wouldn't film, just take pics of totality. Would I travel hours and spend insane money on hotel, maybe not, but would love to experience again, under the right financial conditions.
P.S. In Vermont, we are pretty low on the pole as far as internet service. With the massive influx of tourists, we had none until around 9 that evening. Good thing Bernie is pushing internet to come, and they are. Just in the higher populated areas like Burlington...

I saw the movie, "The Day of the Triffids" when I was a kid. I stay inside for all celestial/astronomical events.
Good point, you'r going to trust your eyesight to a $0.20 piece of mylar film?

I don't recall worrying about tp for y2k. Water, food, and a stash of cash, yes.
I could just imagine how the media would deal with a situation like that today.
Will be interesting to see what happens with Y2k38.
