Regarding the booger, it depends if I like the person as to whether I would let them know or not.
I hang with people like me, who also don't sugar coat things. The brutal honest truth is better in my opinion.

One can be honest without being brutal (or so I am told).
I've alienated more than a few folks over the years by not playing the yes-man and attempting to disagree civilly. Some folks can't even stand polite disagreements so there's just not much can be done about that.
I stopped facebooking long ago for much the same reason as you all have.

Oh yes I try and restrain some of the brutal aspect when dealing with the administration at my job. However those are the people you refer to that can't even take civil disagreement without getting butthurt and feel like their authority is challenged anytime someone who may be legitimately smarter than on them on a topic explains why they are misguided.
