Hey guys, I could really use a little help. Does anyone have ideas/instructions on removing the cupholders? I can write up a story as to why I’m in this situation below but to save time I’m just going to ask first.
Why I’m here:
I’m dumb. I wired bed lights directly to my battery. Everything was great and the urgency to come up with a better plan gradually faded. Until today.
Apparently, someone needed in the back and needed illumination. When I came out to start the truck this morning. It was dead. As dead as I’ve ever seen a battery. 5.31v. No one will admit to leaving the lights on, although, as I said, it’s my fault. Current suspects are believed to be watching Bluey.
The truck is parked in a carport, head in close to a fence so before I could jump it I needed to put it in neutral. It is a Lariat, so this is actually the first time I’ve used the key within the fob. Fortunately, it is the correct one. After getting in I couldn’t figure out how to get it to neutral. The manual had some obscure paragraph about prying off the shifter bezel and pushing a white lever. So that’s what I did.
I pried against the cup holders and they gave way instead of the bezel. Now it doesn’t really hold a drink very securely.
I take full responsibility, however, the instructions in the manual suck. Now I need to fix or replace it. Thank you for sticking with me this far. No children are to be punished. Beers on me.
