Hello friends!

Please feel free to respond directly in DMs if you dont wan't to publicly put out a dealership.

Here's our scenario! Wife has a 2021 Ford Ranger Lariat SCAB that she uses to tow her track car. It's been an absolute trooper for the last 26k miles. We've recently noticed that the shifting has gotten jerky/hesitates which brought us to the TSB. The challenges that we have are:
  • Truck is tuned with the Ford Performance Tune that we installed ourselves (so not by dealer or by ASE shop)
  • We do most of our own maintenance (or bring it to a friend's trusted shop), so we don't necessarily have any goodwill at a dealership. The only time the truck was at the dealership was when we purchased the vehicle.
My question is if anyone has a recommended dealership and service advisor that they like? I'm located in Rockville and purchased the truck from Sheehy in Gaithersburg. I'm a bit worried that they'll reject the warranty and make us pay out of pocket (which would suck), hence the question about shops that may be more open minded about mods (Ford Performance tune, rear airbags + Airlift compressor, OEM brake controller)

You might want to try Talley Ford. I’m not a fan of Sheehy, even though I purchased two cars from the in the last 2.5 years.

I bought mine at Lindsay in Wheaton, they have always treated me right on services. Have not had to do a warranty claim yet. No specific SA. Couldn’t hurt to call them. Good luck!

Thanks! Lindsay Ford isn't that far from us and looks like they can see us sooner than Sheehy. So might be worth checking them out.

Sheehy was able to sneak us in and didn't mention anything about the tune. Unfortunately it seems that TSB 23-2250 is now the bulletin that they're using for diagnosis.

They verified the concerns and performed the steps outlined in the TSB.

"Reprogrammed strategy ID into TCM and performed adaptive learning drive cycle. Post road test, OK at this time."

My thoughts feel that this is just a band aid for the time being so I'll bring it back if the problem gets worse. Reading the TSB, the next step is the valve body overhaul, then the CDF drum if all else fails.

So guess that we'll drive it for another 1k miles and bring it back...
