So I have the 5 foot bed and I have an old Yamaha Big Bear that I haul around.

Does anyone have any idea how the tailgates hold up? Are they like Toyota's and basically beer-cans or like my old F150 and made of sterner stuff?

Figure I should ask first in case I will need to get a trailer.

Thanks!

Full disclosure. I have not put a lot of time/miles on this haul. But I just wanted to make sure it would fit (just barely) and I did haul it around a couple of days. And it is heavy enough that I can see what my truck would look like with a leveling kit, which I have purchased but not installed. No problems that I could see from driving it up there on the ramps.

On my Ram, I had some tailgate support bars when I hauled my 4-wheeler. Much better than relying on the cables, Not sure how the Ranger tailgate will do long term.

Ranger tailgates are aluminum. The construction is the same process as F150s and SuperDutys. They use adhesives, hemming, rivets (see arrow) and bolts as the fastening methods. They are fairly robust but as they say "your mileage may vary"

So...I finally took the plunge and put my new KingQuad 400 in the bed to see if it would fit. And fit it did...no issues and since it was only about 700 lbs total it actually smoothed the ride nicely lol.

I still want to get a trailer though for ease of loading and unloading for the future. Also if I got the 500 it would still have fit but the 750 would have been too much I think width-wise.

Hell yeah brother :D

just to verify you have the short Bed? I’m looking into gettinga new ranger this week but I want to make sure my polaris 450 will fit in the bed so I don’t have to buy a trailer.

Yes short bed. (All crew cabs have short bed.) The front tires just barely fit between the wheel wells, and as you can see the rears are on the tail gate. It seems to handle it OK.
