I purchased my Ranger near the end of March and discovered some wear on the driver's seat left side with a small hole forming. It seems odd to me that a leather seat would wear out this fast in under four months.

Does anyone know if this would be covered by the warranty?

It should be covered. Best to ask your dealer. If not satisfied start with calling Ford to get your repair needs elevated.

I doubt warranty would cover that, as they would claim "normal wear and tear".

I wish the quality of leather used in vehicles was better.

We will see. I submitted a claim this morning. I could agree with you if it had 45 or 50k miles but 16k !!!! Give me a break.

Agree 100%. Hopefully they fix it, and not some B.S. patch repair or something.

If its like that at 16k imagine 116k, gonna look like a shredded mouse nest.

Ain't it the truth. This is obviously a problem since there are a number of posts on it. Alot of "saggy seat" issues. Not alot about premature wear. I have a saggy seat but not in my truck. Mine are still nice and tight but geez !!! I cant believe this could be considered "normal" wear and tear......already ! We'll see what Ford has to say ???

They simply do not build cars/trucks to last any longer. Most modern cars are built to last at best 8-10 years before they almost literally start falling apart. The excessive premature wear like this is an example of cutting costs by sourcing cheaper materials. What would have lasted for 5-10 years before this type of wear starts to show, now is evident in less than 1/2 that time.

Auto manufacturers have been progressively cutting costs across the board for years to yield larger profits for themselves and investors. The result is a steady decline in quality and durability of the cars/trucks produced. We are rapidly reaching the point where consumers need to push back hard against auto makers for doing this. They need to be made aware that that by continuing to sacrifice quality for profits, it will ultimately cost them more in warranty repairs as well as new sales.
