Well there we have it, finally you said something I am going to call bullshit on.

Care to provide anything other than anecdotal stories you've read on the internet or have had personally for this opinion?

Ive had my 5 star tune for over 2 years with zero issues.
Took long enough! Don't worry, live long enough and EVERYBODY will disappoint you, not just me.

How many blown engines have we seen on here from any other tuner?

We've seen at least 2 that have been tuned by 5star.

I'll admit. Most of my opinion is based on anecdotal evidence. But that anecdotal evidence is STRONG. We have at least 6 prominent tuning companies that are represented on the board. As well, we know of only 2 tuned Rangers that have blown their engines. Both were tuned by 5 Star.

I'm not placing criminal charges here. This is purely a civil matter. The purpondance of the evidence will suffice.

But to be honest, I have only three facts that has helped ME form that opinion. They're shitty pics. But enough to see what happened...

Also, they don't respond to questions about their product at all. Huge red flag.

I remember the midnight something or another user here, I don't recall a second one. In his case him driving to a safer location to stop with oil dumping out was ultimately caused his over all failure. I don't remember if it was determined that his 5 Star tune was the originator of that problem. He did have the 5 Star warranty they offer and while I don't think an outcome was decided on, 5 Star did the right thing and covered his new motor in good faith.

Regarding their customer service, my experience was the exact opposite. As a matter of fact I spoke to Aaron who was the original rep I dealt with 2 years ago just a few weeks ago. I have correspondences with him a few times a year.

I'm pretty sure if we had a way to compile all automotive forums into some searchable all in one data base we are going to find anecdotal evidence of a terrible product or terrible customer service.

My guess is most tuning company's have tens of thousands of tunes present in peoples vehicles and all of them probably exhibit a 0.01% or similar failure rate. Also no one who goes online to say their motor blew up is going to tell you if they themselves caused the problem, its just not human nature.

Cept our one user was up front and honest about his, which earned instant respect from me.

Point of clarification.

The warranty was through @Stage3Motorsports not @5startuning

In that thread Stage 3 was very upfront about any questions asked. Being both clear and professional. 5 Star was silent despite having a presence here and being asked to participate.

Was it determined? As whole I think the whole forum has agreed that despite the shitty dealership boroscope photos we are indeed looking at LSPI/detonation here.

Since we are not seeing this present in factory tunes we're left with either the tune or @Project Midnight unaccounted for modifications. I don't know if the mods were accounted for or not because 5Star never would answer how/if they account for modifications on their tunes. Either way, not a good look.

I'm glad your experience has been good. I don't want anybody's Ranger to throw a rod. Stock, tuned, or otherwise.

IIRC you visited 5 Star direct for your tune, right? Do you think your personal visit plays into the responses you get from them? I'm glad you seem to have a good rapport with them but your experience does not seem to be the norm. It certainly hasn't been mine.

Yes their storefront was only a few hours from me and was a good excuse to take a road-trip. I couldn't tell you if being an in-person customer one time would somehow reshape their customer service methods. Doesn't seem likely.

These guys have been in business a long time.
