Found this video talking about the 10r80, its uplifting review considering all the doom and gloom surrounding this transmission. I was surprised to hear that despite it 10 speeds its a relatively easy transmission to rebuild. Not sure why more shops aren't rebuilding them. He starts talking about the 10r80 starting at 22:45 minutes in.

Interesting. Thanks for sharing.

Mine is currently in the shop with 10r80 problems at 37k miles. I have a much less optimistic real word review. Easy to rebuild or not, it shouldn't need rebuilding so soon.
Mine was in the shop 4 times by 42,000 miles for CDF and clutch valves issues. Never got the issue resolved, sold it.

Wish I could remember which forumite said we 10R80 victims were just a bunch of whiners. Where I live there are lots of crows and I'm sure at least one of them wouldn't mind being eaten...
Guilty as charged, but I'm going off of statistics of the millions of 10R80 transmissions out there.
So, no problems with mine, but that doesn't mean it won't grenade on the way home, as I will soon be hitting 50K.
Now, I want to know who was the forumite that said ESP's are a waste of money.

That fact that they revised it means there needs to be a TSB or class action if they refuse to fix the old ones.
There’s been a series of TSB’s addressing the CDF issue. The most current is 24-2046. The TSB coverage is for vehicles within the 5/60 or those with extended warranty . I believe there’s also multiple class action suits pending. I’m wondering what happens to those who had either warranty repairs or replacements prior to the updated CDF ( August of 2022?)

It sure wasn't me. Granger has my number just in case.

I have a receipt for Ford when they're forced to pay up...

those waiting on ford to do the right thing will die of old age before that happens. true story. bottom line is if the dealer is not willing to help you and in the mood to do so your Fd. Sorry. FoMoCo has more warranty complaints and legal actions taken toward them and dealers than any manufacturer in the world currently... you can find thread after thread on almost all online media full of mad customers that were not dealt with fairly, even some with extended warranty. Let that sink in a minute. Then add in that the 5g trucks are obsolete and no longer making ford money except for selling extended warranty on used trucks, parts, and financing loans for suckers. Most of the 5g trucks are beyond the factory warranty already. so the problem is dead and gone to fords eyes. An easily forgotten fart in the wind. Im not a ford hater. Ive bought 4 brand new fords in a row since 2015. the 5g will be my last. In general ford builds decent reliable stuff. However, when minor issues come up that could / should be handled by warranty ford and ford dealers make sure to hose the customer and treat them poorly. Imagine how many fords would sell and be serviced at dealers if they had good customer service... think of chic cil a. the foods not that good. however, they are always clean, staff is always nice, and they always treat the customers like royalty. They have a line blocking traffic every day at lunch lol. Ford could spend a bit of money being the good guy and make it back x 5 if they would take care of customers.

I am hoping that LubeGuard will stop the problem for me. I know that I am hoping, but it is possible. I've heard of other instances where a different ATF cured severe issues.

On a similar but unrelated note, my 2023 CX-5 USA owners manual calls for 0w-20 oil. But the Oil fill cap has 5w30 printed on it. And in every country except the US and Canada Mazda specifies 5w30.

First oil change just came up and I put 5w30 Pennzoil Platinum full synthetic in. The engine dramatically quieted down and runs much smoother.

I am beginning to not trust automaker's US recommendations on fluids. I now look at foreign engine/transmission fluid specs and use them over US specs (if the hardware is the same).
They recommend different viscosities for different regions. I would just put 5w30 if you live in the southern states of USA. But northern colder regions might want to run 0w20.
