2021 Ford Ranger Lariat
With the 6" drop, loaded it sits dead level. So can't do better than that.

Any thoughts on mounting the tongue box further forward like this? The frame is too wide further back. Here I can just use U Bolts to connect it.

When loaded you are level correct? If that's the case I say for the most part it's good. If you want to be safe there's nothing wrong with dropping the nose just a little bit. Main thing is just having a good balanced weight on the trailer that has more of the weight towards the tongue. We all know what happens if you have too much weight towards the back.
