So on the week of Thanksgiving I am planning to take a little bit of an exploration trip through New Mexico on my way to my Folks place in Arizona. Who here has some good places to check out trail wise(that won't necessarily be too crazy) that would be worth the time? For reference I will be coming down from Colorado north of Santa Fe and will be headed into Arizona around Mule Creek.

Try going past White Rock on NM 4, past Bandelier National Monument to Valle Caldera (side trip if you want do off-road) and then on to Jemez state Monument. We did it Memorial Day weekend from Colorado and it was great. It's out of the way for a direct trip to Arizona but you can then go down to Albuquerque and take I-40 to Arizona.

If I touch I-40 it will be for a.short time. I will be entering Arizona from the south west near Silver City and Lordsburg.

After doing some looking it looks like there is the New Mexico Back country Discovery Route. After taking a quick gander at it I can tell it would be nice to do at least a portion of it. I'm just curious if anyone here would like to attempt it with me? As mentioned I will be headed to Arizona anyway. The plan would be to meet in Antonio Colorado on the 18th and stay the night there. On the 19th start heading out on the trail in the morning after breakfast. I suspect we would get to Grants on the 20th, just a question of what time of day. From Antonio Colorado to Cuba New Mexico is 201.27 miles mainly OffRoad. That could be done in 1 days or slightly more depending.

If only a few can join that would be fine. On the 22nd I plan to end the day in Morenci Arizona, so it depends on how much we do or don't cover overall. But I suspect a good bit of the route can be covered in that time.

Who's in?+

On the last leg of your trip to your folks house, I'll send you my empty graphene bottles, just toss them on that AZ Scorpion guy's driveway! =D

Sounds like a great trip (certainly more exciting than my 1.6 mile dump run). =p

As fun as that sounds it's like an extra 4 hours to his place from my folks place
