Need some led light wiring help dont know if I'm on the right track

So I've come to the group with some questions.

I want to add some interior led ambient lights no big deal..

But i want then to come on with the dome lights when i open the door and also by a switch while driving at night. So the light will have 2 power sources. The tricky part is when i turn on the switch i don't want the dome lights on just the led ambeint

So i assume a type of diode? Will that stop the switch power from powering the dome??

Diodes will do the job. I did something similar on by truck and used these:

These are 15 amp diodes that are overkill for an l.e.d.
But you'll never have to worry about them burning up.

Just put a diode inline with each power source to prevent backflow.
