I have been hoping the Robin Electronics bed light system would become available again but no luck. With no response from the company as to when they might be made available again, I started looking for something else. I looked at the suggestions of others on this site and there are great ideas on this site. Since I still am holding out hope for the Robin kit, I have been looking for a temporary solution (plus I don't want to do an install in the winter in MN).

I was at Harbor Freight today and came across this. The light switch was $2.49 and the magnets were $0.99. It runs off 4 AA batteries (batteries included) and the magnets easily stick to the light switch and the bed where I have the Linex spray in liner. We will see how it works but it fully lights up the bed and if I want to move the switch somewhere else due to loading in the bed, it is easy to do.

For what it is worth.

Did DIYAndy already make this find? Darn. Not cousins but I like his thinking. He probably found them cheaper as well.

I used these with magnets, one on each side of the bed. Motion sensitive and rechargeable. Liked them so much I bought some for a closet at home.

I mounted them at the top of the bed on the angled section. With good magnets they are staying put and if I need a light I can remove it easily.

Can these motion activated lights be made to be just on/off and not motion activation? I know some can be. My worry with motion activated on is that I frequently have stuff in the bed and it invariably moves around. I would think this would run down the batteries kind of quickly.

And can you provide a link to thesis light?

Just for the record, NOBODY admits going to Harbor Freight (unless someone you know sees you there!)

Yeah, probably even worse saying I love that store for cheap stuff that won’t be used all that hard. And I was wrong on my description, it is powered by 4 AAA batteries, not AS batteries. My confidence level has dropped.
Hopefully Robin Electronics makes their touch lights again.

Not a bad idea at all, those are nice bright lights. I use them in my lean-to where there’s no power and down by my generator transfer panel for when the power is out.

Here's mine. A 'friend' got it at Harbor Freight. He said they were free!

I was given a couple of these by a friend as well. Thought I’d try the light switch this time.
