My freaking goodness !!! The Social Security paperwork will definitely qualify as another milestone ... if I can ever complete it that is ... im now curious as to how many just give up on it , or die (stressed induced heart attack ? ) during the process ? Or maybe thats the while damn point ?

It's a pain in the butt.
Here in AZ there are non profits you can call that will help you with it.
Maybe some near you?

Just wait until you sign up for Medicare! It was a huge PITA when Annie just did hers and you're dealing with the Medicare office, SS office, the insurance company and your own agent if you have one. In the end it worked out but for almost a month she was on the phone 3-4 days a week trying to get things straightened out because they were all giving her different answers.

ETA....Now it might be easier if you're already taking your SS (having it directly deducted) but she's not collecting hers for another 2 years.

The pissy part is they already have the answers to 99% of those questions... they make you answer 10 thousand questions on your medical history alone and then tell you that they are gonna get your medical records!
Great I thought ! So under all the medical questions and huge areas for explanation I wrote "see medical records " so I didn't have to type out the same thing that the records already say . Nope...

Did the online app then they call in about a month with any questions. Easy peasy. That was 4 years ago.

I find things like that usually come MUCH easier for people that aren't me... See the "stuck wheel on tiller" thread ( other people's just "slid right off " they said)... you can also see the " how to lube your slipjoint" thread and how that went down hill like no one else's did ... also had the only turn signal socket to go bad (and went bad in a VERY deceptive way) in the history of this forum... warranty denied of course...
