I agree with you completely. That's how I have always done it. The sub can take up to 40 volts at 4 ohms. There was a guy on the f150 forum who said he successfully used the green plug and the sub handled the molested signal fine. I'm thinking I'm going to try the plug just to see if its possible. If not I will tie into the non molested signal. Plug is on back order. I will keep you guys informed.
Thanks for your help really appreciate it.
What is this plug you are talking about?

The green plug on the ford factory sub. I decided to go a different route. I'm using the zen unit. I will post the build when its finished.

Thanks for the reply. I am looking at these currently to see if I can tap into the BO system output for the subwoofer and connect it to an aftermarket amp:
https://www.kicker.com/46KISLOAD2
https://www.kicker.com/keyloc-smart-line-out-converter

Not sure if just the KISLOAD2 is needed or the Keyloc added.

This is the small amp and sub I plan on stuffing into the cubby under the back seat.

You can buy the factory side of the sub plug. It's the green plug. Then you would just run the wires from plug to input level on new amp.
It would be a molested signal from the amp.
I went with a zen a2b wich has the rca outs and replaces factory amp.

Ooof that zen a2b is expensive.
Yes, bought mine on black Friday. Problem is are truck chimes alarms are ran through that sub. Without the zen there is no real good way. There are guys who have spliced in to rear speakers and say it worked. I wanted to add new speakers in doors also so this seemed like the best option.
