I wish I could Ed but there wont be enough room, it's only .30 of an acre. I would've loved to have had more land (like 10 acres) but it was hard enough getting Annie to move away from the big city. That's ok because it's nice and peaceful here and a good compromise for both of us.

I've never seen a city takes so long to do their permitting but after 13 weeks of waiting the third and final permit was just approved this morning! I guess the city is trying to find a full time engineer (not sure what happened to the full time one) and are now using the engineer from Bentonville part time. We were at a meeting at the end of July and the mayor said there were 515 permits in July alone. No wonder it's taking so long with one part time engineer working 20 hours/week.

My builder is now able to schedule the lot to be cleared and hopefully things will progress better from here on. I hope so because we've been buying so much stuff for the new house we're starting to run out of room here. lol We're going to need two moving trucks by the time spring comes.

That sucks! Dave I was expecting your post to say you are moving in by now!

Hang in there buddy. Maybe those drop off moving pods would be easier than 2 trucks?

Thanks Mike. Yeah it's been a slow process and I was expecting 8-10 weeks from what they told me. At least it's ready to go now and I'd rather everyone take their time than rush so as long as we're in by March/April next year I'm good with that.

We're only 3 miles from the new house so I'll take a lot of stuff over in my truck little by little. Then rent a mid size U-Haul and take the larger things which should only take a couple trips. That is if we stop buying stuff. lol I'm getting just as bad as Annie now.

I’m more of a smaller brewer guy - Sleeman Brewery - has a checkered past of smuggling beer to the U.S. during prohibition. That’s a business plan I can totally support. ?

I’m sending Dave some Canadian Armed Forces surplus tents so he has a place to stay while his house is being built. Don’t worry, I’m sending the winter version - they have two extra ties on the front flaps. Should be fine.

At least when Dave starts chopping & splitting all the wood from clearing the property for the new house they'll have plenty to put in the stove to keep them warm until they move in. Since Dave & Annie will need a place to sleep because they won't have any room left in the house their leasing with everything they've bought and the things they don't even know they need yet.

Finally making some progress! After 3 months of waiting for permits the house is almost framed. They just put the doors and windows in yesterday and have a couple more days to finish the roof sheathing and wrap a few things up inside. They have a lot of inspections here (which is a good thing) in the beginning. One after the lot is cleared, one after the footings are dug and one after they're poured and the block is laid, core filed and slabs poured. The nice thing about using the Zip System is once the roof is on it'll be weather tight and the subs can start their rough in even if the shingles aren't on yet.
