Is this engine noisy or am I just expecting too much?

the cover is this small metal shroud around the injector pump.

me thinks it needed to be bigger and thicker.

its sets back on the engine right by the firewall.
some sort of sound barrier needs to be added to there to keep the noise out of the back side of the dash.

Could you put some felt or something on this to help deaden some of the sound?
