Ok I don’t get all this Sync hate on here. I’m impressed with its look, user friendliness, speed, etc. I’m certainly not one of you infotainment snobs though since I’ve had mostly old vehicles until now. I love how it handles calls and texts through the system etc. it’s not perfect (something is Still turning my iPhones volume down every time it links up to Sync) but it ain’t bad. Updates are always difficult to manage on almost any piece of computer equipment seems like.

I've used Sync in 3 vehicles. Since my very first exposure it has worked exactly the same. That was a 2009 Escape with Nav. It worked pretty good in 2009.

The Sync 3 in my '17 FiST and '20 Ranger work and look exactly the same as that Escape's Sync. Thank God for Android Auto.

It's not that there's anything wrong with it. It just isn't good at anything really.

The infotainment system in my wife's 2016 Mazda is far better, in GUI, operation, and capability.

I honestly don't understand why they bother any more. Infotainment nowadays should be a killer sound system with AA and Carplay. Everybody carries their own infotainment in their pocket.

I thought adaptive volume was speed based? I assume that's in the audio controls on sync3?

I didn’t have mine on long enough to know when and how it adapts. It was driving me nuts so I killed it within the first week of ownership. ASS went with it too!

Yes it’s in the audio settings if I remember right. Poke around, you’ll find it

Ford Pass should have a stand alone chip so I can and sell it. Are the vehicle recycling people going to be able to mine these chips just like the morticians' do gold and silver.

Didn’t you buy the truck to get you from point A to point B? Infotainment is for my living room in my recliner with a cold one! The more widgets and modules you add in an automotive environment will definitely bring you frustration at some point.

Law of averages says the more stuff you cram in there better chance of failure. Now, how much you need to remove to get at what needs replacement?

I work in a control room for an electric generating station. I can look at the logic for all the instruments, sensors, pumps, motors etc in the plant. The software controls everything.

And also, no. If I bought a Ranger simply to go A to B I wouldn't have bought a Lariat, or probably even a 5g Ranger. I would've bought a 2010 Ranger for MUCH cheaper.

Yeah, I feel you. I upgraded for the new tech, although this isn't exactly updated in some regards but it's better than the 2009 outback I came from. I usually keep cars for a while, but I'm pretty sure I'll buy a PHEV ranger in a few years... if they have one. And then that will be my long-keeper truck.

I tend to keep a hold of stuff for a while. I don't mind Sync too much because I don't have to use it really.

Hell, the way inflation is going this might be the last new vehicle I ever get.
