I knew you had long summer days, but I didn't realize that much energy is produced at that latitude.
Orbital mechanics. 68 degrees latitude with 23 degrees axial tilt gets you 45 degrees angle to sunshine in noon and 89 degrees at midnight (hence the sun does not go down effect).

On winter it's tough since the tilt works against us. Noon becomes 91 degrees and midnight is 135 (hence the sun never comes up).
