Yes. I've witnessed this in china. The cab I was in ran out of electricity, so the driver stopped by the road and went to corner and picked up an 10kWh carry-on battery.

Of course if the car is not from a Chinese manufacturer and made for China, it probably doesn't have a slot for the "jump" battery.
