Where is Dennis Weaver?
Loved that movie.
Sadly, we lost "David Mann" (Weaver's character name in the movie) in 2006. The tanker yanker reincarnates periodically; I swear I ran across him more than once in the years I drove semi...

Still threads happening on oil changes, when I was 1st married eons ago I believed in frequent OCIs and wife was supportive, but times rolls on :

What do oil changes and sex have in common?
My wife doesn't believe in either of them.

In the incident below I prove I have a higher IQ than those grease monkey employees:

My mechanic tried to scam me because he didn’t think I knew about cars
I took my car to get an oil change and they were like “would you like us to rotate your tires?” I was like “Ummm. I rotated them a bunch on the way over jackass!”

I was telling her about a $10,000 scissor lift that ferrari dealers have to buy to work on the Ferrari Enzo.
Me: "To even change the oil, the dealer has to buy that lift to get the car up to working height."
Wife: "That sounds like some expensive overhead."

that movie made me wanna be a truck driver as a kid lol.
It was Convoy, that made me want to drive a truck. And hopefully not many truck drivers out there chose that profession because of Duel.

Long, long ago, before Interstaes, there was a late Fifties TV drama called "Cannonball." This was done back in the ICC-regulated days before true coast-to-coast trucking. Far as I know, they never ran into Todd and Buzz.

Weaver's best role IMO was Chester in Gunsmoke. Weaver moved to Ridgway CO several decades ago when he quit the movie biz, built an eco home from tires, bottles and cans, I think passing thru Ridgway there is a plaque about the home and a memorial park in his honor. Back then Ridgway was affordable, now forget it.

I always liked him in McCloud, too. Weaver was also in a Twilight Zone episode; gotta find that one!

I always thought maybe there was something going on between the Marshall and Miss Kitty, but I guess he was just too honorable or maybe just too picky or maybe he wore his gunbelt on the wrong side, don't know how that was perceived in the old West, certainly not acceptable on TV back then. Yeah and it's interesting watching some of the old TV series and seeing guest appearances by unknowns who went on to be stars. I remember seeing Chuck Connors on a Superman episode, it was hilarious.

A: Matt Dillon (James Arness) and Kitty (Amanda Blake) never married during the series 1955-75 run, although close watchers of the show were convinced they had connected at some time. But in a 1973 episode, Matt had a brief affair with another woman, Mike Yardner (Michael Learned), while he had amnesia.

He had an affair with a person called Mike ? Can't blame him for the amnesia.

I suspect the ones that are married chose it to get away from their wives and eat at greasy food truck stops.

Maximum Overdrive was in a class by itself when it comes to trucking movies. Stephen King directed.

S'pose Doc Holiday ran a little planned parenthood clinic?

Michael Learned played Olivia Walton on The Waltons. Despite her first name, hetro female all the way. I never saw the Gunsmoke episode where she played Mike Yardner, but she did have that role, and it was the only male character name she ever played.
