Question for the OP:
How much lower/easier would you say it is to get into vs the ranger height?

For the thoughts on the little mav, my parents at actually looking for a different vehicle as the 2015 escape they currently have is getting pretty tired (285K) my mom wants a Ranger (she loves my truck) but my dad has had numerous stokes in the past five years and he’s still walking, but watching him get in to and out of the Tremor is pretty rough(it would be perfect for them if a ranger was about 6” lower... So thanks to yall I’m going to be guiding my folks towards the Maverick (awd white tremor most likely.?) (we are mainly a ford family ?.) seems like it would be perfect for the bit of lite ranch work my mom still handles and the long drives to the neurologist pops has pretty much once a month now..(heavy sigh) it’s gonna suck when the big guy upstairs calls him up.
Gonna keep him comfortable and in style while he’s still with us.
Amp Power Steps make getting into my 5G Ranger far easier than my 4G Ranger. I have to stretch to touch the 5'8" mark and pushing 70.

And maybe even easier than the Maverick. I own a Mazda Cx-5 and just sold a 2003 Maxima, and the 5G with the Power Steps is easier to get into than any of them (You go lower to get into them.)

Another consideration. Have them check out the seats for comfort. I found my daughter's
Maverick seats to be a tad too thin and firm. Makes riding in the car for any length of time for us us older folks more difficult.

My last and most important thought...

Your parents raised a good man.

I appreciate that last comment a great deal. Thank you
It is a lot to consider since gotta fit them both and check as many boxes as possible.
Yeah getting lower to get in is why the escape (even with only 30k on a rebuilt motor.) it’s been action hero hand shakes to help dad drop in and not bop his head on the escape roof. Also my mom try’s to use it like a truck..(I’ve gotten some recovery practice out of her shenanigans in the lower areas of their property ?.) and she loads up the back like a Tetris master..
been looking up specs on vehicles and I’m wishing the height of the seats from ground level was something included in vehicle specs or easier to find (if it’s out there, I’ve been having some trouble finding it.)
“You can have any vehicle you want, as long as it’s a Ford.” -Ged (my pops) ?
Although he didn’t buy or help me buy a restored GT40 when I turned 18.. hmph ??

I'd equate it to getting in and out of an Escape; no awkward hop into the cab is needed. And like a few others have said, it is a factor in why I'm switching.

Sure, you could bolt on some steps, but if someone already has mobility issues I would imagine going up and down stairs at home, to get in their vehicle, or otherwise, is one of their least favorite/comfortable activities.

The only way anyone will know with certainty what vehicle works best and is most comfortable is to try out the alternatives. Anything else is simply conjecture.

I have no axe to grind. But I do have experience in having driven every vehicle that I mentioned.

The one thing that I am absolutely sure of is that Brian has his parents best interest at heart. I am confident he will figure this all out.

It has been 2 years now, and unless you have experienced it, you have no idea how difficult it is to deconstruct a loved one's home. So many bittersweet memories... That said, it was an honor to do this for my parents.
My mom died in'21 and we still don't have her house cleaned out to sell. It doesn't help that I am 8 hours away, relying on my unmotivated brother to do a lot of the legwork. No real precious heirlooms, but you're right, it's tough.

You nailed it right there, so we have decided just going to a dealer to just check one out isn’t going to be good enough. So the wife and I are looking for a rental that has one. Then get Mom involved (since she will be the primary driver) wife and I will pay, hope to get the Mav for 4-5 days. If that goes well then we can fart around a dealership for the details like what trim, pkg, and pricing (already know they will want the Blue paint)..I’m thinking this is the best way to see the real world impact potential. Pretty solid plan came together quickly.
Again y’all have been super helpful.
Thank you very much.

James,

I feel it still. And I know that you do too.

My mother had her jewelry, and it was important to safeguard, but my grandfather's straight razor, my Dad's pocket knife, and my mother's and grandmother's Bibles were the precious heirlooms that I was alluding to.

My inlaws gave me a 50 year old Sanyo Turntable a few years ago, and their LP collection. My parents left me their LPs as well. And I still had my collection from the 1960's-1970's in storage.

Two weeks ago I just finished refurbishing it, Cleaning the speed Pots, replacing the drive belt, needle and cartridge. And oiling and adjusting the motor, and tone arm mechanism (it was dropping too fast and the required 5000K grease was expensive, and somewhat hard to find!).

I just finished playing a 50 year old album on a 50+ year old turntable though a Onkyo Amplfier with 6.1 surround sound Don Williams - Good Ole Boys Like me. I have the digital equivalent music, but that analog LP turntable puts out a warmer fuller sound... and it brings back a lot of memories.

Life is good... and eternity will be very much better. "My hope is built on nothing less..."

Precious mem’ries, unseen angels,
Sent from somewhere to my soul;
How they linger, ever near me,
And the sacred past unfold.

Precious mem’ries, how they linger,
How they ever flood my soul;
In the stillness of the midnight,
Precious, sacred scenes unfold.

We went with a Subaru Forester for my wife because it was the easiest vehicle to get in and out of with her bad back plus it had the best vision / least blind spots of any other vehicles we looked at. The seat height is perfect and she can slide in and out of it with no pain. I would let your mom test one also because we love ours and getting over 30 mpg now.
