I agree with everything you guys saying, and I have lot of experience with aluminum cased ammo as well. I shot the cheapest brass cases, steel & aluminum more as an experiment. I'm also somewhat familiar with the 2011 market & even had I bought something like Staccato I wouldn't expect 100% of their products to run flawlessly.

I have been racking the slide here & there to help with the break-in period. I was of the impression that QC issues has been mostly resolved, so I hope it'll start running somewhat reliably, but we'll see. So far it's set the new standard for jamming I've ever seen, but I've taken it out just once so far, so I'll keep you all posted. lol

Another new toy:

A Ruger .22 pistol suppressor host is on my short list!!! I had an opportunity to grab one from a prize table a few years ago and grabbed a Kahles scope instead due to the price difference, but now I no longer have the Kahles and would have kept the Ruger.

I'm new to Ruger Mark .22's & also suppressed pistols, so I'm not even sure if I set it up correctly yet. lol So far it's been 100% reliable, which was kind of surprising.

Photo Dump:

DeadAir Primal got approved for my Marlin 1895 in .45-70 and I’ll run 410gr Sub-X through it.
IMG_7163.webp

Got in a couple case me of 338 ARC in to play with….massive bullet for that little case. Makes 300BLK seem silly. 307gr expanding subsonic bullets thump my steel targets pretty hard!
IMG_7159.jpeg

Finding a 338ARC barrel took awhile, but finally got an 8” KAC barrel for my SBR

added a Vortex Viper dot to my Benelli SBE3 so my aging eyes can still hunt
IMG_7339.jpeg

I thought for sure I had updated pics of these, but SBR stamps finally came back at the end of February for both SP5’s and added SiCo Omega9k suppressors for both. Without the Timney triggers they’re ok, but adding Timney triggers made these extremely fun to shoot!

testing a new optic plate for one of my Phoenix Trinity pistols

I also recently took a trip to Arizona for the first time, managing to win a 13” IWI Galil Ace in 5.56 that I’m now going to figure out how to install a Timney AK trigger in. SBR paperwork took less than 7 days to get approved on it!

Next projects are a couple of hunting bolt guns in 22 Creedmoor and 6.5PRC, but I think I’m still 2 months out before the barrels are on

Feed it better quality .22 ammo (CCI standard and CCI mini mags will run better than bull pack Federal) and read up on how to clean and oil them.

I do like CCI stuff a lot. I ran the same Silencerco Switchback of my .22 rifle also(Thompson Center 10/22 clone), and was shooting CCI subsonic out of them. Typically I just shoot whatever the cheapest ammo I can find for plinking.

I run CCI standard a lot for .22 semi-autos and bolt guns. I can buy 500rd bricks with little 50rd boxes, it stays subsonic in nearly all of them, and it's accurate. It's not as consistent or accurate as SK Rifle that I use for .22 precision shooting, but it's very acceptable for the price difference.

Yikes! That's gotta hurt. At 75 yards, the round exited a 54" jell block.

I don’t care if it’s a deer or a coyote, something is gonna experience it this fall! I just can’t decide which goes first….the subsonic 338ARC or subsonic 410gr .45-70.

More work on the Mossberg project...

Stock cut down.
1000016781.jpg

And out to the driveway for some Ghetto Gunsmithing.
1000016965.jpg

The plan, after shortening the stock, was to add a recoil pad (it was originally a plastic butt cap), and pistol grip cap, and white spacers to make it all fancy.

1000016967.jpg

I sat in the driveway with a belt sander and made an absolutely ridiculously big mess of ground rubber and shaped the stock to accept the grip cap. Then I stripped the stock - tomorrow I'll hopefully stain it.

Woo hoo!
I went to NRAAM in Atlanta a couple weeks ago, and let's just say, made some more industry connections.

I received a call today that my Springfield Armory Kuna ships tomorrow. I'm excited like a little kid! ?

Hopefully I'll have it in my hands before the week ends.
