Nice pickup, Joe. I've got a G30 and love it. I bought a couple of 13-round mags for it as well. However, I found it was a little big to conceal comfortably (too thick) and I ended up buying a G36 to carry. I keep my G30 as a nightstand gun with an Inforce light attached. I also changed out the floor plates on my 10-rnd mags with Pearce Grips floor plates. The factory plates tend to pinch under recoil; the Pearce one's are much nicer to shoot with.Hi guys!
My latest purchase is a Glock 30. I added a TLR-6 light/laser combo. I have the Glock 26 9mm and the wife's Glock 42 .380.
I know you guys aren't Glock fans but I'm hooked.
I still have the Sig P365 I love, a Sig 290RS and Kahr P380.

I do the same with the G30 w/TLR-6 with a gun magnet on side of my night table. Depending on what I'm wearing and where I'm going. I carry the G26 4:00 in this holster. Comfortable holster.
Recoil on the G36 isn't as bad as I thought it would be for such a small .45. My FIL had a Colt officer's model years ago that had worse recoil, at least I thought so. I would say it's a little more than the G30, but negligible, especially for anyone who's shot .45's prior.
It is kind of scary using another slide but they said it's ok. Like you stated, it's better to have two 45's.
Yah, I was really leery when I first heard mention of swapping slides. And when I couldn't really find definitive info, decided against it all together. Will be interested to hear your thoughts on the G30. I don't know anyone else who owns or has owned one...I bought mine without ever shooting it. Fortunately, I was not disappointed.
So did I and I have little experience with 45's. I did shoot my brother's Kimber 4" barrel 1911 and it has really minimal recoil. I expect to have a bit more with the G30 but it is heavy at 34 ounces loaded. and lower borax vs the 1911.
I don't think you'll find the recoil to be too bad. The Glock springs are pretty stout and tame the .45 really well. I was surprised by how tame it seems the first time I shot it. It may not recoil any worse than the Kimber. And yah, I'd expect the light to help that a little as well. I haven't fired mine with the light on it; the Inforce sticks out just beyond the barrel and I haven't felt like cleaning the light as well as the gun.
The Streamlight TLR-6 doesn't stick out but is only 100 lumens but does very well indoors.
I would concur with the forum on the G30...at least as far as a .45 can have "soft" recoil. It's definitely not a brute and I can fire a couple boxes through it at the range without any issues. Actually, I take that back...my thumb starts to get torn up reloading the mags after a while...lol.

I like how compact that TRL-6 is. My Inforce looks like a monster under the barrel. It's rated at 200 lumens. I like it, but wish it was shorter. It sticks out a good inch beyond the barrel. May have to look into the TRL-6.

I was thinking about going with the 13 round mag and the X-Grip from GunMagwharehouse.com but it's another $50 and I have to slow down.
