Grill & Side Vent Paint?

@Mobius97 How did you get the side vent off? I am wanting to put an amber LED light strip behind it.

Plastic console removal tools. Good to have around... they have clips pop off and have a small piece of 3m tape. Takes 5 mins or so for both. Clean surface well. After market just uses tape.

I used painter's tape and masked off the area just above the vent to avoid scratches. I then took took two auto trim removal tools to pry loose.

Using the thin flat "angled spade" I wedge it in to pull the vent slightly from the body so I could see the top two clamps. I took a second thin pointed trim tool and pushed down on the clips.

Once the top two clips were removed the other clamps gave way with a little pry from the spade tool.

Thanks for the replies. I have the plastic body tools...you need them to take off some of the panels on a Goldwing. I am going to connect them to the side marker lights.

I painted my roof, mirror covers, fender emblems and Raptor grille metallic black. It's not plasti dip but it is still removable.

Hey guys,

Has anyone used any specific paint to give their truck a black appearance package look?

I bought my truck a month ago without knowing about this package and regret it! I currently have the 2019 Lariat in Magnetic Gray, but I'm not a huge fan of the chrome front grill and side vents. I got a quote from the dealership and to buy them brand new is ridiculous.

Has any used a gloss paint (NOT PLASTI-DIP) to help achieve this look?

If anyone has swapped out their grill for a Raptor style and is willing to sell or trade me theirs, I would be open to that as well. I'm looking for either black or magnetic gray in the So Cal area..

I will sell you mine if you still need them. Lariat magnetic grey.
