Hello everyone. RBMAN-Rich. I got my 2021 Ranger Lariat in June after waiting several months before the chip arrived at the factory to complete the build. I have had F-150 pick-ups previously (1 Chevrolet in the 70's) but the 2014 F-150 I traded in was just too big and I could hardly park it correctly. Anyway, when the Ranger came back in production it seemed like the truck to have. It's roomy enough for me and is really fun to drive! I would like to share my experience as some on this site are not interested in HP, but I did a little research and found that with the newer Ecoboost turbo you can gain 30 HP by burning premium gas. I've used it from the start and am really impressed. I also discovered that FORD has a Performance Calibration Kit for about $1000 that is supposed to gain 40 more HP if you can find a dealer that knows about it and it will not void the warranty. I had that installed also, but have not noticed much difference between before with premium and after with the kit. Some on this or the Facebook site have said the kit smooths out the transmission shifts. Maybe so, but My experience is to use premium and save $1000 and drive in Sport mode for fun ride.

Agreed the 93 octane helps, tune makes it smoother, recently added MBRP dual exhaust from the back, very nice addition to add fun to the ride. What ever you do enjoy the ride....

Welcome Richard! I too came from driving many F150's and love the Ranger, it's roomy and the perfect size for me and my use. I don't have the Ford tune but I do have the Livernois tune which at the time was $500. That really did help smooth out the shifts (they have a soft shift performance tune) and take away most of the low end lag. I do run premium (only 91 here) and honestly never noticed smoother shifts using only premium before the tune but it did run better and more responsive. If you haven't already try using S mode as that will help too and makes it feel like a rocket. :)

Everytime I think I'm getting bored, I stomp it going up ramp in S mode and like whoa...I can't believe the rush running on 87, 33" tires and loaded at 5,500lbs... ?

Welcome Richard. I too had owned only F-150's. But as my little town grew the parking lots along with the spaces began to get smaller. Buying my Ranger took care of that problem,
