Anybody tried playing around mounting gauges in the center dash where the tray sits?

I am putting the gauge pod from Autometer in the tray. It fits quite well but I had hoped that the pedestal was taller so I could have cut out the front so I could mount the upfitter switches. If I ever decided to add anything requiring those switches I will find another place for them.

I am installing a boost/vacuum, oil pressure and volt gauges. They should arrive tomorrow.
